Seeking advice: 28mm Matrix themed figures?
« on: 10 October 2010, 08:29:08 AM »
I recently re-watched the Matrix trilogy. The character's look is really cool and these over the top fights are great fun. I was wondering if there were any suitable 28mm figs around for a Matrix themed game. So far, I'm aware of Copplestone men in black as decent agents. Heresy gangers and Foundry future wars could supply many security guards and evil Merovingian's henchmen. I'd like further suggestions, especially for Neo, Trinity and Morpheus characters.

Are you aware of the Foundry "The Hardwire Troupe" pack from their Street Violence Range:

http://wargamesfoundry.com/fantasy_ranges/single_packs/futuristic/street_violence/the_hardwire_troupe_sv017/?sector_id=29

Those pack more than just a bit of Matrix style. Good figures, although I haven't got around painting mine for 3 years now. Foundry are also having a 20% off sale right now, so you might want to check on that. GBP 8.80 for five figures of that quality isn't that bad, but remember the postage cost.

I did some stuff based on the Matrix movies quite some years ago, if you're interested:

Reaper Chronoscope line has a few that would suit:
Janus (not Neo?) http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/Sci-Fi/latest/50040
Eden (not Trinity?) http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/Sci-Fi/latest/50048

For agents, Reaper also has agent Smith and Jones in their preview section or you could go with some Suits from EM4.
Heresy Slo-Mo for Morpheus

Some of the ready painted Star Wars figures might have potential too.
I'm sure I've seen one in a long coat being acrobatic.
Can't remember which one, or what his head looked like.

You mean the "Bith Black Sun Viggo", I think.
He has the Matrix-style, but you have to change the head ;)

Team Frog/Nightshift Games' "Mortis, Post-Modern Demon" would work as Morpheus.  About half-way down this page:

em4 has a big, bald guy with sunglasses and a pistol. Hasslefree has several women in tight suits.

Many interesting suggestions. Thanks, I'll have a look. Nice take on the APU and what-was-their-name mechanical octopus thingies. With all these Lara Crofts, Selene, etc. being available, not to mention the Doctors, I'm surprised to see so few figures inspired by Matrix's main characters.

Heroscape had three matrixy characters in it's original box, including a morpheus wannabe equipped with what looked like a claymore.
I can't say they were of the highest quality, but...
