* Floating Rocks
« on: 13 October 2010, 01:17:22 PM »
Well it's getting on towards the deadline, but I finally made enough progress with my idea last night to get started on it, so without further ado, my work in progress terrain piece.

The rocks based up, with twig bridges.

With a "Stargate"/Artifact on top.

That's pretty ingenious. I like the addition of the artefact.  8)

Is it designed for a particular scale or size of model? Or is it multi-purpose?

Thanks for the reply JollyBob, it's primarily designed with 6mm in mind, though I guess it would be equally at home with my 2mm project or my Aeronef's.

Progress!

I removed the little bead from the artifact as it didn't quite look right to me eye, then I added the root pods to the base of the islands, and they didn't look quite right either so the pods got a coating of sand along with the rest of the base, to help blend them in a little.

A scale shot took before the second coat of sand went on. A stand of Baccus 6mm Colonials and a Games Workshop Imperial Guardsman.

I'm very interested to see this painted (looks like a smashed up weetabix now!  lol). 6mm stuff fascinates me because its so wee and dinky looking.
