Start of the Cloud Kraken of Venus
« on: 25 October 2010, 08:02:16 PM »
Lurking in the cloud cover of Venus are the dreaded Cloud Krakens. Smashing airships and sweeping up squads of troops in passing, they are the terror in the sky. Worked this idea up with Skrapwelder. So the other day I was at the thrift shop and spotted one of the Lego's monstrous squids for a dollar and snapped it up. With some modification, a good base and blue / greys coloring to blend into the clouds it should fill the bill for the needed creature.

Huh, we were discussing something similar with the same model but for Mars :)

Oh it's a Megabloks Kraken from their Pirates of the Carribean range.
So many projects..... so little time.......

I gave my grandson one of those for Christmas a few years back and at the time I thought those tentacles would be useful for so many things. Great idea on your part! Good luck!

Its bad enough on the ground on Venus, what with all the flora and fauna conspiring to eat a chap. Now one can't even relax in the skies!

I knew my Prussian armored Zep had a reason beyond the occasional show of force.

Makes it difficult to convince the droptruppen to exit the craft...

The troops should not worry. I have it on good authority that the Cloud Kraken is really only dangerous to airships during the mating season.

Awesome Idea!  I want one of these for a project I've been thinking about:  Monstar's ship from Silverhawks!

This is my boomstick!

They'll be asking about when the airships' mating season is...

Now that would make the Kraken even scarier... one that has a Control box and been armored, excellent Idea Doomsdave!

Sargeant: "He'll take one look at you lot swarming the decks, figure she's got the devil's own crabs, and run right back to pub!"
