Looking for 15mm Steampunk-ish Fantasy Miniatures
« on: 29 October 2010, 10:09:32 AM »
I've got the fantasy itch again, this time probably aiming at something less standard and more weird. My overall concept for the new setting is somethings along the line of an Age of Exploration/Age of Sail game with adventurers/explorers/pirates from more or less "typical" fantasy lands exploring strange new lands (and islands) across the ocean where most "standard fantasy" monsters/cultures do not exist and instead there are lizardmen, dinosaurs, giant insects, fish/frog monsters, strange ruins, stranger gods (think of an Aztec/Voodoo take on the Cthulhu Great Old Ones) and terrible secrets to be discovered.

I'm leaning towards a slightly higher than normal technology level in this setting, with firearms being relatively common in the hands of explorers/pirates (alongside the standard melee weapons) and with a limited level of steampunk-type technology (or da Vinci-Punk technology) existing, especially in the hands of mad scientists.

I like using 15mm miniatures, and I'm looking for miniatures to represent the somewhat higher-tech figures and inventions in that setting - fantasy gunmen (so far I've found Peter Pig pirates and 15mm.co.uk Dwarf gunners) as well as clockwork creations and flesh golems (IT'S ALIVE!!!).

Input would be welcome.

East Riding Miniatures are worth a look - 15mm frogmen and they stock Grump who do 15mm pirates and the Evil Gong who do fishmen (though for some reason they don't include them on their website.
I don't know whether to be a good example or a horrible warning.

Thanks for the input! :)

Regarding Brigade Models, the only steampunk-y stuff they currently sell (as far as I can tell from their web-page) are the Iron Stars (http://www.brigademodels.co.uk/IronStars/index.html) steampunk starship models.

What I'm particularly looking for are fantasy demihumans/humanoids (elves, dwarves, goblins and so on) armed with firearms and advanced crossbows and/or dressed in 17th century fashion; I'm also looking for steampunk-y vehicles/robots in 15mm (and a 15mm steampunk-y diver suit would be perfect!).

Were these lovely spiders released? Where would they be found now?
