Just ordered
« on: 01 November 2010, 02:17:30 AM »
one EA of the T+T and the Colonial rulebooks, after a little pow-wow with son nr 1.

Any suggestions on what to get of miniatures and other necessities (paint etcetera), before the rules get here ? So that the miniatures atleasts under way, before the rule sets get here.

I`m a tiny bit slanted towards Indian(NWT)/Afghan protagonists, for the first foe set-up. But will not exclude african suggestions, either... :D

Help a noob out, please  ???

Ordered from Empress Miniatures, seen the banner on here and found a link on the T+T website.
Best regards

Harry

Hello,

welcome to the forum. Thanks for ordering the rules. A very good choice  ;)

You don t need masses of figures in the beginning for a colonial T+T game. If you choose Afghanistan 20 per side would be enough.

You need a playing surface and some suitable terrain pieces. Rocks, Hills, Trees.

I use Vallejo colors and all my Games Workshop remnants.

If you need help feel free and come back here for your questions.

Cheers
Björn

Thanks Bjørn.

Any hard pointers as to ranges worth looking at, and colours to get ?

I`ve found the Foundry range, but comparing to a lot of the others they seem a tad pricey, given that I`m just starting out and need to get everything, with the possible exception of some brushes, got some of those last year with a couple of 1:72 plastic armoured cars.

I`ve been thinking of using "The Story of the Malakand Field Force" as a back drop, so its skirmishing around 1897ish, should be possibilities for some interesting bit, possibly some "spying" in the "Great Game" sense as well... :D

*EDIT: Found the answers, or something along the lines in the Colonial board... I`ll slap my forehead, and ask for Noobility forgiveness..

Got it - had a quick browse, looks very nice. A tad more RPGish than expected - but that should only contribute to the fun.  :D

One little question, though - should there be some included dia "rangecards/overlays as to explosions ?

Do you mean templates (circular blast, 2" and 4")? The first print run had templates printed on the back cover, but we removed them for the second printing. We had downloads up on the supporting website, but had to take them down recently due to a malware incident.

If you send me a PM with your e-mail address, I will send you high-resolution images of explosive and smoke templates.
