Hrm. As much as I like the Dingo (not as much as the Ferret or Saracen, though), that must be one of the most ungainly-looking AFVs I've ever seen.

Was the turret designed with special regard to being able to depress the gun to fire at close-range enemies, or down from elevations? Or is it just a locally-improvised thing?

Thanks Piers, Dave had sent me a photo this morning - Lovely looking model too.

I believe this was a stop gap before the Ferret was built as another variant of the Damiler has the Saracen/ferret turret located on the top where the dust-bin is located. This would have then been a later issue in country. The Australians used this version too when fighting the MRLA.

The Malaysian armed forces including police used this vehicle well beyond the initial conflict.

By the way the French in Indo-China used this vehicle too alongside the CT15A in the early years of the conflict.

Chris, 'tis improvised. The Dingo was an recce vehicle and often had no weapons or maybe a Bren or .30 Browning mounted in the front poking through...A popular vehicle as you no doubt know,the improvised turret was possibly not very successful,I'd like to know how the turret was turned,motor or hand cranked? I ramble.......

Very nice! Is the roof/ turret  detachable? I want some Daimler scout cars for my Portuguese who managed an even more ungainly conversion.

Indeed they did. There's a photo of a surviving example in South Vietnamese service in the old Squadron booklet Armour of the Vietnam War IIRC

Should have the pre-production test to paint up soon, so will do you some pics of its parts.
