Thunderbolt Mountain F&IW French (now w comparison pics!)
« on: 04 November 2010, 07:56:56 PM »
A couple of F&IW Frenchies from Thunderbolt Mountain... Sculpted by Tom Meier.

And seen in situ...

Notionally, they're 28mm, in fact they're probably a bit more like 32mm, but just to point out how remarkable these figures are - here they are at roundabout actual size  ;)

As said elsewhere, these are beautifully painted and their style is very interesting. They certainly don't make the impression of near 30mm miniatures.

Just stop right there, it's not fair. How can you paint a (large) 28mm like that and not be 28mm yourself  :(

Wonderful stuff though Richard  :-*  :-* although I don't want to paint any of mine anymore  ;)

cheers

James

Richard, seeing these miniatures painted by you really is a great pleasure.
I do not know many painters that are able to do the sculpts of the grand master of sculpting justice.

You do. Without being arty-farty.
Thanks for sharing these highly inspiring pictures!

Beautiful painting  :o

Er... the Thunderbolt Mountain website say they are 1:48 scale, that is bigger than 28 mm

Oh ye of little faith, my Breton friend  ;)

Left to right - Front Rank (true stubby 28mm), Galloping Major, Thunderbolt Mountain, Redoubt.

Stylistically very different, but height-wise, not a lot in it...  :)

Fingers crossed that you have more on the painting table.

I certainly do. The indians are going to get the VERY special treatment the figures deserve... 8)

Thanks to all of you for the really nice comments. Much appreciated.
