Tram gauges to the nearest scale to 1:56/ 28mm?

Hello,

I'm interested in finding out what gauges European tramways run on, and what commercial track gauge these are closest to. To my understanding some light rail systems share track with conventional railways. I am leaning towards S-scale because of that lovely BR-52 being S-gauge and it would be nice if I could have a common gauge for my t(er)rain.

Usually standard gauge of 1435mm, but there are several of 1metre narrow gauge as well.
There are Bachmann 0n30 streetcars in 1/48 scale on ebay that run on H0 tracks (16.5mm).

On30 is tempting, as I have some HO/OO track that I am (unfortunately) not using at the moment. With how I'm planning on building my boards all I should need is a wire to make sure both sides are powered. However I'd still like to keep the rail standardised.
