Is anyone doing a Jeeves and Wooster VBCW?
« on: 21 November 2010, 11:35:35 PM »
I know Trooper is, what with his 'What Ho, Nazis?' threads, and I'm aware that Musketeer have some Wodehouse-esque characters, but I'm trying to get to grips with putting some VBCW forces together and I'm rather thinking that I'd like to base them on novels of the period - so there'll be a bit of Wodehouse, a bit of Waugh, a bit of Agatha Christie and a bit of Orwell in there too.

One thing I'd like to do is put together some of Roderick Spode's Blackshorts. Any suggestions for suitable minis for them, or any other characters?

And yes, I like the idea of a fascist plot being foiled by a fop, his capable butler, a surprised Belgian and an old lady.

Hmm, yes, very nice indeed.

I might have to spend a lot of money on Pulp Miniatures in coming months... between them and Musketeer (and Artizan of course) I'm going to be wanting a lot of Interwar minis!

Could be wrong on this, but didn't Musketeer do a gentleman fop and his assistant/manservant? I seem to recall that the manservant was armed with a Lewis Gun. I had a vague thought that they could easily be "Jeeves and Wooster" stand-ins.

Doc how could you ever say those Musketeer figures are based on Jeeves and Wooster! ;)

Spode was the inspiration behind the BUF officer.

All the best

I have posted my Totleigh-in-the-Wold Cricket Club Volunteer Grenadiers here on LAF a few times. That's how VBCB is played at the house of Hammers.

What about Woodbine's British in shorts? They have the shorts but also wear a tunic so they wouldn't look too tropical. I think they'd work well with the service cap head option. That's what I was thinking of doing when I was considering a VBCW Blackshort force (too many projects on the go to even consider starting another now, unfortunately).

I love the Totleigh-in-the-Wold cricketers - fantastic. And an entertaining narrative although I'm sure Jeeves would never say "gotten"   ;)

I'm completely in your court Red Orc.

Been slowly making cards for Through the Mud and the Blood and will be adding Chance cards for Big Men/Hero types, rather than fielding the personalities immediately in game.  Though scenarios would be cool too.
Some Jeeves cards, Marple, Poirot, Tintin too....Spode would be nice for my BUF cards.

Here are some BUF cards Ive made so far: HERE for TtMatB.
