Author Topic: Looking for stores that sell “cheap” old school fantasy minis  (Read 8890 times)

I’ve been working on a special little project lately and have been scouring the internet for companies that produce and sell 25mm-28mm old school fantasy miniatures.

When I say “old school” I mean miniatures that are old sculpts from the 80s or early 90s, or newer minis that have the same look.

I only pay with paypal, so that is an issue.  I also live in the USA, so shipping comes ito play (but only when it’s crazy).

I have to admit, I’ve become spoiled with companies like Mega Miniatures, Irregular Miniatures, and Reviresco…the kind where I can order minis for a dollar or two and really get some good bulk deals.

I also like “one-stop shopping”.  I’ve spent a lot of time sifting through shops that have one or two orc or dwarf selections.  I really appreciate one store that sells a wide variety…so I can make one massive order.

Thanks for any help.

Once again, I leap to champion Ral Partha. You'd think they were paying me or something...  :?

Ironwind Metals carries them in the USA, but doesn't have as full a range as Ral Partha Europe:

They are about to raise their prices as well, so buy now if you find something you like. Good folk to deal with too.

Btw, Dave over at Splintered Light have some great old dragons, giants and trolls. They're listed as 15mm, but are in fact old Metal Magic 28 mm monstrosities. I took a chance and ordered some and they're larger than their GW counterparts. Here are two pics I took with a Citadel troll and a Citadel fighter for scale comparison:

You can find the minis here:

To top things off, Dave has a 20% off holiday sale now - so it's 20% off the listed prices! =) Massive lumps of metal worth every cent, and then some!

Yeah, at those prices (even without the 20% discount) the models are a bargain! Great sculpts (if a little flat, as it were back in the days) and loadsa metal.

I also got a wyvern and a jabberwocky and was expecting them to be much smaller than what I got. Well chuffed! =)

I'm sure you need a huge honkin' troll though... =) #2 from the left in my second pic is one of my favourite minis ever. It's bloody amazingly awesome!

Haven't painted it, ofcourse - as there are a lot of other "favourite minis ever". =D

Of course :)...but I picked up the old Ice Trolls from the Ghost Miniature line (they are still avaliable from Old Glory, but I got these on eBay for a steal).

A lot of the old citadel humans have been rereleased by Foundry (vikings and Medieval and some samurai)

The problem with Foundry are they aren't exactly what I'd call 'cheap', unless they have different pricing policy on these minis.

Agreed but everything is 20% off and they are the same castings so it's cheaper than picking up old copies on ebay, just an idea...
