Crusader Early Imperial Romans match with?
« on: 02 December 2010, 08:21:04 PM »
Hi chaps,

I have a customer who is really into the Crusader EIR's and has enquired as to what they will mix well with in terms of other infantry and cavalry.

Has anyone had and first hand experience with this? I'd be gratefull to hear any suggestions you chaps may have.

Darrell.

If I remember correctly they are quite chunky so maybe the only choice would be the Foundry ones. You'd have to have a look on the respective sites though as I don't have any any more  :?

Not much help I know but it's a start  :D

cheers

I was thinking of the Foundry models but- if I remember correctly(!)- I think their range comes in two different sizes? Small and not so small?

Darrell.

Mark did indeed sculpt parts of the A&A range. I have heard Aventine's stuff matches up very well with Crusader also. I know they are working on an earlier period, but some of their stuff might interest your client.

Thanks for the imput chaps. My client did specify Early Imperial and did want the mini's to fit with Crusader EI. A&A would have been ideal but they are at least two centuries out as said above. The A&A stuff does paint up beautifully too!

I think I'll advise him to go with a mix of Crusader and [some] Foundry but I'm still not sure at all about the Cavalry  ??? ???.

Maybe go with Foundry too as their sale is on and maybe the cavalry won't look so small as they will be mounted (on those small foundry horses)  ::).

Keep the suggestions coming gents- all very much appreciated thus far.

Darrell.

I've not seen them in the flesh but North Star sell the Imago Militis EIR.

It might also be worth considering the Black Tree Romans, as their figures are on the larger side.
Waiter, my soup is giggling.
