HOME BARGAINS YELLOW HUMMER
« on: 12 December 2010, 07:08:55 PM »
Went to Homebargains today ,saw this diecast Hummer. It's from the Disney CARS Mega size range  and cost £4-99

It's plastic and metal  is lemon yellow and has those goofy eyeballs on the windscreen.
The dimensions are 10cm long ,just under 5cm wide and4 1/4 cm tall to the roof

i'm sure somebody will find these useful
cheers

Used a screwdriver ,stuck it under the plastic thing ,it came off in. Whole thing took 20 seconds. The plastic thing has 4 plastic pegs that slot into 4 holes in the roof, should be easy to fill in.
hope this helps

Cool find!

Every so often, you can come upon the right kind of vehicles (at the right scale* ) if you look around. A long time ago, I found the die-cast Hummer in the image below in a toy store:

I've got several of these.  The eyes are just painted on, so present no problem.  The side mirrors are soft plastic and not that great, but workable.  The mouth is textured, so you'll either need to replace a small panel at the front or file down the texture.  I filed it down (very easy).

The biggest challenge, which isn't a huge one, is dealing with the hole in the roof if you remove the hair/cargo rack.

They aren't highly detailed, but great if you want a cheap option for humvees.  In the US, you can find them at Big Lots for $6.00, or at Target, K-Mart, and Toys-R-US for a bit more.
All my best ideas are someone elses

looks to be c 1/48 from your measurements - a smidge too big to use comfortably with 1/55th TAG/Fenris Humvees, but a cheap alternative, for a big of kit bashing.

good find!

Managed to pick one up this morning, the only other ones they had were the security van's, maybe I should have picked one of those up as well...

The security van looks a bit narrow when compared to other cars that are useful in 28mm
