Looking good so far! :o I know it's maybe a bitty late, but what about having the eye of the beast looking down at the guy scrambling out from underneath as opposed to straight ahead? It might add a bit of storytelling to the model. Also I've seen people use gloss varnish for anything wet. Maybe put it on the eye when your happy with it......

yeah I aint repainting the eye but the idea of him looking down at the poor guys he is sat on was considered at the outset, but didn't think it would look right as he would be tilting his head slightly also.  Don't worry varnishes etc will be applied in due course this is only 50% finished so far.

How the heck did you get that eye to look so detailed?  wonderful!

Thanks.  By doing it in stages, layer up from dark flesh adding more and more off white to it and glaze once happy with the "white" I think freehanded on the viens using thinned down blood red and my Da Vinci 10/0 brush.  Paint on the iris with thinned down reaper ultramarine shadow and then add more and more vallejo model colour off white for the streaks.  Finally the pupil.
Though I really do like what you are doing with the "mini", the eye doesn't work for me...  Maybe putting in some reflective dots on the top (right or left?) of the iris and the pupil? It looks quite dry right now. Also the iris looks a bit too small for my taste. The human iris can seldom be seen competly and with a lot of animal you can see even less white, for instance, just look at the eyes of a horse.

and

I was about to say the same thing, the iris looks a bit small...not sure if I'm sold on the blue either tbh.  :?

Stunning work so far though (same goes for the whole thread).
I've not been really into the modern take on chaos but your army looks perfect.

Thanks guys, I will be dealing with reflective dots in due course.  With regards to the iris size thanks for the feedback but I am happy with it so it stays as is sorry.  And the blue was chosen to draw the eyes to the eye and the face and it does that with resounding success I think.  Its very much like marmite, some people love it some people hate it

Hideous disgusting and awesome!

thanks matey

I got some water effects of off Vikotnik on this forum once and it is quite perfect for livening up eyes like that.

Highly recommendable (and perhaps it would also work wonders on those intestines?)

Looks awesome and disgusting. Great work. The eye-discussion is quite interesting, though of course we have to keep in mind that this is not a human so human standards might not be the most fitting. And it remains a question of personal taste as well. Any way, I like the model the way you painted it so far and hope to see more later...

lol @ the supermodel bit.  But I appreciate feedback mate so don't be worried to speak your mind it is always taken on board and considered.

So last few days progress.

Obviously there is still a fair amount to do but I think this is really starting to take shape and my mental picture of it is very much being realised.

Looking good & love all the little eyes, that's a very cool idea!
I am looking for the following Deadlands minis:  Shotgun Thug, Lost Soul, Cleaners, Railroad Workers & Feral Dead. If you have any of these minis, or if you are one, please send me a PM.

Thanks. All that time spent looking at pictures of skin disease, frostbite, eye disorders etc etc etc are starting to pay obviously  :)  Although I still have the dreams.

It is rapidly becoming lovely!  :-*

As I am considering another at some stage even more converted, so maybe Tweedle Dee would be more fitting mate.

Well I did it!  I purchased a toad together with 200 resin skulls from a guy in china.

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer/WARHAMMER_CHAOS/TAMURKHAN-ON-TOAD-DRAGON.html

Work will start on that after Gamesday UK.  And it is absolutely bloody MASSIVE!!!  Even the rider is 50% larger than a normal ogre.

Nearly finished the GUO as well.  The Elk hair arrived for me to do his hairy back and I am back in stock on PVA as when I came to finish the base off at the weekend I realised I was totally out and B&Q was shut :/

woah, what a nice toad over there! :)

i really like the skin, but i'm afraid i've to make a criticism about the eyes, as said above: the blue part is too small, and it is always totally inside the white one! that's pretty odd... :)

cheers

Ooohhh...  Really interested in seeing that Toad painted up nicely (in contrast to what you see on the forge worlds site).

Is there really a stream of magotts falling out of riders side?

Yes upon close inspection there is oodles of detail you don't notice until you have it infront of you maggots and flies all over the place, I never noticed the severed minotaur head on the banner.  Also a nice touch is in the dragons mouth are a fair few skulls or decomposing people.
