@ dodge

Thanks

@ Col A.B.

"you didn't place because a. too much blood on the piece, b. the models were too busy" sound familiar?  But I get the point, you don't like the Chosen, I can't please everyone sadly.  And as much as I like you and respect your opinion mate I have to paint in a way that will win me a GD statue and although the chosen are not going to be entered into GD this year I need the practice to perfect my techinques.

But no matter what I like it and I have more than enough self doubt at the moment without second guessing my own painting  :'(

I dint say i didnt like them, far far from it.
I only said that the green reminds me of the Slanesh booties  episode...

THATS ALL!

I think the skin is the best you have so far done and the basing is also, the best you have done.

I know they rank up, so i am very excited to see the whole unit ranked and ready to kick some butt!

It would be a brave move, but i would give serious thought to using the frosting technique on the actual armour plates as well.

The infamous colour green you have chosen would be contrasted very nicley by the addition of frost! And it would break up those large areas of green!

Maybe worth a test?

But not TOO much, or they'll end up looking like the christmas nativity scene from hell.....

@ Christian

You and me both mate, it is nice to see the models start to come to life they have been sat infront of my monitor in a state of built and green/grey stuffed with their bloody halberds poking up so I can't ever watch a subtitled film for far too long :)

@ Col AB

Your like the anti-rastafari mate! Don't fear the green! I will try it on the two bobbins test khorne warriors i painted for the website rather than on these two or the really nice one.

Thought I would also provide this little tutorial for how I do my snow, as guys from another forum keep asking me for it and I had written it so thought I would share it with you guys also

Snow

(1) You need a mix of 50/50 PVA/water then add bicarbonate of soda to this mix stirring it until you get a nice paste, thickness is down to personal taste, I like it to about the same viscosity as fresh double cream, I have found that too thick it naffs up your brushes (i advise using an old brush you aren't too worried about, dont use a W&N 7 Series ) and too thin and you have no control over where the snow will go you will be quite litterally snowed in.

(2) Paint the mixture on the base, think thats pretty self explanatory, if you use a large brush and dab on a large blob of the mix you can get a rather good snow drift effect. AVOID painting the snow onto the tufts of grass if you use them as it drys very clumpy use (4).

NOTE - Do (3) and (4) at the same time it will save you time and bicarbonate of soda (although cheap no point in pointless waste)

(3) **Optional** whilst still wet sprinkle on some more bicarbonate of soda this gives a fresh snow effect and also dries the mixture enough for photography but not touchy touchy so fingers off!!! Blow off any excess, you can be fairly vigourous when you do this, just make sure you don't spit all over the model.

(4) **Optional** for the frosting on the lower parts of the model (now I tried LOADS of different ways of acheiving this and they all looked crap beyond beleif apart from this one and it is beyond simple). Simply paint some brush on matt varnish to the areas you want this frosting on and then sprinkle on Bicarbonate of Soda. Blow off any excess, you can be fairly vigourous when you do this, just make sure you don't spit all over the model. I use this to apply snow to the tufts of grass as well.

And we are done. Hope that is all pretty self explanatory, any problems let me know pal.

Thanks dodge, as the tournament is a GW shop vs GW shop kind of deal through-out the South West at Warhammer World, the shop with the most points at the end of the day takes the trophy (or banner in this case I think), that said at the recent regional manager meeting, Neil the Torquay GW store manager has told the other managers that Torquay WILL be taking home the best painted award (although the award will go to the individual I think it counts towards the store total), now the fact that he has so much beleif in my ability as a painter is greatly appreciated as the army is not finished yet, but OH MY GOD THE PRESSURE :o

Right standard bearer is finished, took me two nights but i think it was worth it

Painted that banner perfectly and then dirtied it with all manner of washes, glazes, drybrushes....think it looks sufficiently nurgle

@ Thantsants

Thanks alot pal, my pleasure, it was a copy paste so no trouble but I thought it would be the right thing to do :)

@ dodge

Thanks mate

@ phreedh

Thanks mate, sadly that is currently impossible, they are all down the local Games Workshop in the display cabinet....I like to try and inspire the youngsters into actually painting something, I get sick of seeing them is bloody black undercoated armies.  I have been known to refuse to play such people if their armies stay black for too long.  Anyway I will have to bring them home before the tournament and photograph them all, unless you are happy with a crappy picture taken on a gaming table when I go in at the weekend to play a game mate?

Chosen Champ is now finished. I am pleased with him thats for sure

Just to show how they champ and standard go together as there is a "story" playing out in the unit...

The poor sod being pulled into the banner by Grandfather is actually supposed to be a sacrifice :)

Think I need to add some blood splatter on the base of the champ
