You could use some decals if you don't want to mess painting such details on small helmets.
I wish I were an octopus to paint more miniatures...Cthulhu must be a great painter

Not really mate,  you couldn't, they are not a single sculpt repeated and decals would look wrong (imho).

Brush wise I'm into the 00 000 and 00000 range for the detail work. It takes time but I think the results are worth it.

watched that over the weekend... the effects are good... script is bloody awful and the gag's are typical fanboy stuff... Troops did the fanfilm better I think...

and that skull and cross bones is really dissimilar to anything in the Star Wars universe, really kills the look...

I agree. They did something great technically but I would prefer something more serious.

It's only the effects and armour that I'm looking at for inspiration, the scripting as you say is just off. Agreed re: skull and crossbones; I'm talking about the gunner/pilot/driver helmet design it'self which is less bulky than the rebel helmet/stormtrooper combine, plus a bit more of a nod to the clone gunners and pilots (the back section).

Anyway back to my figures, another stormtrooper painted last night, will aim to get at least another one done tonight if not two, (fingers crossed).

I painted these a while a go, I took the advice of Redzed and base coated them grey (Halfords grey primer) White over that and then black details.

These are GZG NAC marines that I painted up as rebels.

One note on the Denizen stuff, the regular humans and troops are smaller than GZG

Nice Pete, simple and effective.

As I said I used a black basecoat, I worked up successive drybrush layers of VJ London Grey, adding a little skull white on each coat. Once the base was complete, I blocked in all the white armour, leaving the grey as a lining on the armour plates. Once dry black ink was applied to the undersuits, neck seals, gloves, lenses and helmet details, boot soles and blasters.

That will probably become quite time consuming but don't want to rush them, and I want to maintain that level of quality might just go to grey undercoat and block from there? Didn't get any done last night, (just one extra from Sunday) but will tonight.

Cheers

Unless you get frustrated with the speed, I wouldn't change anything. You are doing some absolutely wonderful brushwork here. :-*

Cheers.

Slow going on the painting front, just a lack of time really, but another two done tonight:

(Tonight's two and crouching stormie hidden clone! ;))

The squad takes shape:

Four more to do to complete the first squad, (although if you read the miniature battles rules Imperials have squads of 8 ) then I might try another paint method to speed things up alittle and go with a white basecoat and just add the shading/lining that way.

Keep you posted.

Hei Commander,

have you thought about a conversion for some of these:

Would be nice ;)

Also, will post tomorrow a pic of some "Undercover" Stormtrooper Commandos from the Comic, which are one of my favs.

By now, nice job so far.

Received a little bundle of loveliness through the post Friday from the US:

Droids:

Tripod (E-web) cannons:

More snowtrooopers:

Hoth rebel scum! :D

Imperial and Rebel Speeders:

AT-PT's

And some tauntauns (not pictured) currently grazing in the pasture after their long journey.

Certainly going to get the creative juices flowing!!!

More later.

Disclaimer: Astromech droids were harmed in the making of this conversion. ;)

With the number of Astromech droids I have, and the fact that I also had a few miscast. I always wanted to make an R2 model look slightly more dynamic, as the WEG sculpt was very static.

I also fancied getting his 'leg down', so to speak, like this:

So with my cutters, pin vise and diamond saw I set to work:

First thing to do was remove the legs from the mini, leaving the head and body infact, (and keeping a spare foot/leg for later).

At the same time, I carved/cut a pair of legs from one of the miscast R2's to use with the head and body described above.

I then drilled the main body and inserted pins. The legs were then drilled and attached via the pins mounted in the body.

Finally, the middle leg was cut and shaped and added to to the min. The result is quite nice (imho):

Finally all pieces where assembed and this is what I ended up with:

Nice, quick and simple to do, helps to have a supply of astromechs, and find a use for the odd miiss cast.

Cheers

The Commander
