Hi,

I'm a big fan of the brilliant Leviathans design, but as the game is not out yet and the models will be too big for Dystopian Wars, I'm looking for ideas to convert or buy one. Sizewise I'm aiming for 10 - 12 cm length. For those who don't know the Leviathans artwork, here is the link:

The existing Aeronef miniatures are too different from the Leviathans design to be of any use (Irregular Miniatures, Wessex and Brigade) and the Spartan Games one is ugly. I don't know any small submarine kits to serve as a good base for a conversion. Furthermore the Starblazer Yamato kit I found is too big (5 inches) and looks to much like a WW2 battleship.

Any ideas ?

Have you considered dollar store plastic pens? Some of the fat ones might have the sub hull shape you are looking for.

Good one that, but I assume that a WWII sub, with flat deck and less pointy prow, might be what Wolfslord has in mind.

Do correct me if I err, m'lord.

I know I've seen some ready-made, tiny scale subs in some model sections.

Otherwise, a look at aircraft model ordinance boxes could also give a variety of possibilities. Save the rest of the bits for the bitz box, of course. Never know when you need a blocky space transport.

Edit: Have you looked at Iron Stars? Brigade Models makes them for MJ12's game, but I've not bought any, so this is no endorsement.

Hi,

thanks for the replies.

The Iron Stars miniatures are not quite to my taste. I also found some nice 1:700 subs from different companies, but the ones that would fit nicely, are too big. So I'll use this one as the base model (the 1:700 version):

Agreed, looks brilliant, but that still seems pretty large, as well as I've only ever seen 1/700 subs in waterline models.

However, please keep us informed!

Hi,

Hobby Boss has a whole series of complete subs in 1:700:

Plus Takara (ships of the world) and Trumpeteer (easy models) have "full" subs in this scale too.

Most of the smaller subs are about 10-13 cm which is good for Dystopian Wars.

On razor handles, do you have any phots the_Beast? I've been looking at a few razor handles I saved and thinking, 'hmmm, there are some free-to-download spaceship compbat games I could try, if I had some ships...'

EDIT: I meant 'photos' of course. I don't even know what a 'phot' is - a photovoltaic cell? A photon? And why would it be 'on razor handles' anyway?

EDIT 2: oh, I didn't mean 'compbat' either. I've never batted a comp.
