...his whole mass of cavalry came on at speed in the most splendid style. The rush of horse, the sound of the earth, the waving of flags, the brandishing of spears, were grand beyond description but perfectly ineffectual.

Thanks for posting the photos gwz. It's a shame his site seems to have disappeared.

I was always impressed by his models in Wargames Illustrated, especially his how-to articles. More than a few of my 15mm ACW buildings and 15mm Eastern Woodland Indian villages are based on his models.

Cheers,
Barry

Herb is a bit of a quiet achiever. Unfortunately, as Barry says, his site disappeared after problems with the server provider. There were some fantastic pieces on his site.

He is still taking commissions. A friend had Hougomont in 28mm done! Gardens and all. He still hasn't used it in a game >:(

There will be some photos of an 1812 game in 25mm up on the blog today or tomorrow. Herb did most of the terrain for that, with the exception of the base boards.

Glad to see some of Herb's stuff online. He is truly one of the best.

I cannot see the pics on my office PC so will have to wait till I get home tonight but I thought Herb had given up doing commision work some years back?

I met Herb through Tod Kershner (Age of Reason, Age of Discovery and Pig Wars) back in the early 90's and was amazed at the detail and effort he put into his work. He did a lot of work for Crocodile Games, Conquest and OG in the past.

Herb is still doing commission work, but the absence of his web site is a problem...
