Venus Natives, (not your usual Kroot)
« on: 24 January 2011, 03:42:32 AM »
I worked up an new native race for Venus, for our upcoming Campaign. I did not want to use skinks or kroot, but did find a suitable base creature in the star wars line. The starting trident weapon had to go, I wanted them to be degenerated high techs or some such but had to fit into the role for a Jungle/Swamp world. The snake motif hides they have fit the bill, then to create a suitable rifle I hit upon old Imperial Guard laz rifles and pistols combined to make a longer weapon. I cut out the trident, drilled the hands and set the rifle into the hands. Now to find a stack of laz rifles and pistols as I had enough to make five.... bits box ahoy!

Figure to the left is the new more dangerous native :)  have yet to put a wash and dry brush paint job on them next.

Base figure is Amanin Scout, http://www.trollandtoad.com/p173907.html  , which unfortunately only comes in one pose, but I figure to use the heat from a hair dryer to warm the plastic arms so I can reposition them some.

I am curious about the green vehicle in the background at the moment. :-)

The Tank in the back ground , better pictured here   http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=25395.0  is kit bashed from a toy Bulldozer, using its back end for the front end of the vehicle and the gun assembly is taken from a 1/48 scale model Grant Tank. Here's the article on its construction:

Or Skinks. Venus is as big a planet as Earth; plenty of room for variety. Fallen-tech lords hiding from barbarian follow ons...

Not that it's Alfrik's intention; just saying, works for me.

I will say that my first reaction was 'What has he done to ET?!?' ;->=

I convert Wotc Star Wars miniatures and use the same technique but you can also cut the arms, the legs or any part from the miniature and then glue it with superglue. It works very well. Some examples here :http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=25481.0

This way you can have more poses.

Nice idea to use these miniatures as Venus natives.
I wish I were an octopus to paint more miniatures...Cthulhu must be a great painter

I've done the same to clix models, although I like to pin the parts when possible. Easy peasy

50 odd of them are purchased, now have 10 rifle parts assembled, so still looking for nother 40ish, probably use a few pistols here and there to save on converting more rifles.
