I think it depends on what game(s) you intend to play. The support for GW stuff (Warhammer and Warhammer 40K) seems to be pretty solid, but other games systems may suffer from less frequent updates/corrections/fixes/etc.

I have the V2 version but I haven't upgraded to V3 because Army Builder only works on a PC and I switched to a Macintosh.

For GW players, it can be fun to sit there endlessly reconfiguring various army lists, and some tournaments prefer that you submit army list in the AB format.

One drawback is that you do tend to lose some facility with doing army list math in your head, since AB automatically totals up the points for you.

Overall worthwhile if you don't mind the PC drawback.

I have a copy Army Builder Ver. 2 that was out back in 2001/2002 or so from when I played and was a Warlord for Mage Knight. Havent messed with it in forever (probably 6 or 7 years) since I don't play any miniature wargames that use point systems, If I did decide to use it again I would probably just use it as a figure inventory for all the figures I have for my ATZ games.

IIRC it was nice but sometimes a little clunky, but also as I have said I haven't used it in quite a while, and I dont have the slightes clue how the latest version is.

I might have to dig out my copy and install it on this computer just for kicks.

Try "virtual box" from Oracle to emulate PC on a make. It's freeware and you can use AB.
