I don't recognize the Big Guy. You might P.M. Thantsants if you need to know the mini maker.
Sorry, it was meant for Thantsants, I should have said.

Yep he's one of the old 54mm Fighting Fantasy Orcs with a weapon swap - makes a good giant for 28mm  :D

I thought I recognised it. You've done a superb job on him.

I started on a little Group/Vignette of old Ral Partha Dark Sun minis by Sandy Garrity. I'm kind of in a quandary as to the skin tones. Any suggestions would be welcome.

They look a bit aquatic or at least very old and gribbly - these are the pics I used for inspiration for my sea demons. Hope they're of some use  :D

Thanks for the feedback, Thantsants....I can always count on you...mostly.
That bottom photo looks an awful lot like the Lads...nice teeth. The first viable suggestion from a Death Squad Forum Guy was purple. I could see a base of purple or deep violet going to a very pale shade of lilac...might be a flashback.

I forgot (nothing unusual in that for moi) I believe the art work for Dark Sun was by Brom, which should give you an idea just how DARK the setting was.

Addendum: one of the Guys on the Reaper Forum suggested I try googling Dark Sun Gith. This yielded this:

Pretty cool, eh?

Blue?, the skin in the pic you show is pretty cool as are the ones in Thantsants post.

I nearly suggested some kind of blue/grey and the thought crossed my mind that those browns and pinky creams might not be bright enough for Stereo-Nala-vision!  ;)

Must admit I'm not familiar with the setting or the race but I'm looking forward to seeing how they turn out.

Thanks again for the feedback, Guys.

Brom & I part ways on how vivid colors should be...he also has a lot more talent than moi. SO you can count on some garish shades in the mix.

Must admit I'm not familiar with the setting or the race but I'm looking forward to seeing how they turn out.

Actually I'm not all that familiar with the setting either. My erstwhile AD&D Group got all excited about the Beasty. SO, as the only painter in the crowd, I plunked down my coins for a bunch of the minis. At that point The Group lost interest...one of the reasons they're erstwhile. I do, however, recall it was a horrid place that had a scarcity of water & metal...the Halflings were cannibals, which I thought was appropriate.

Hi DeafNala, I would suggest a green/brown skin tone (sand colour with some green and a little brown to it) or Vallejo's green brown.

Thanks for the suggestion. I do something similar with my Zombie flesh tones...that is a possibility.

Actually they were more in the order of Man Eaters...kind of like Gollum on steroids.

Well...I've made some unremarkable progress on my Dark Sun Guys. The skin color is established & some of the other colors are falling in place:

While I was at it, I added two new Mushroom Lads with sort-of-legs:

I'm debating giving the Lads some pointy toed Elfin style shoes to add to the Clown  Effect.
Your comments & critiques are as always appreciated...for the most part.

The blueish skin tone on those fellas looks great.
A great choice!
 :-* :-*

As for 'shrooms growing legs as well now, well, that is just damned scary!

Thanks, Amigo! I think I managed to match up the skin color pretty well to Brom's illustration. Otherwise I will probably wind up going for brighter colors for the clothing et al.

Having the Mushrooms mobile opens up new possibilities for sleepless nights & horrid dreams...being nuts can be fun.
