Here is another of the Otherworld minis, a nifty little owlbear straight from the 1st edition Monster Manual. It is a good size for 25mm figs, but is actually not that big. It is on a 40mm round base to give an idea of its size.
I got on a roll this last few days and knocked a bunch of things out. Using a new magnifying light has helped reduce my eyestrain and I can see details again. I can't focus like I used to on minis, so I guess I'll be using the magnifier from now on.
The painting techniques were basically the same as with the orcs and gnolls. Prime in black, then zenith spray prime in desert yellow, then a final zenith prime with white. The next step was to apply paint in glazes, mainly Liquitex inks + GW washes. Highlights were mixes with ivory and "golden highlight" from Reaper (MSP paints). I used a great horned owl for reference, although the face really looks nothing like an owl, more like a vulture with a mop top. That's about it. I tried not to go overboard on the details and keep it simple.
