Hasslefree weapons with GW plastics?
« on: February 15, 2011, 05:57:56 AM »
Hello all,
Would like to replace those goofy lasrifles on the plastic IG I have kicking around, and was wondering how the pulse rifles from Hasslefree size up to them.
Thanks,
Jim

The HF pulseguns are pretty small compared to las-guns but will look OK when fitted to your IG.  That said, the size difference will make all of the special/heavy weapons look out of scale so you may have to go a bit further with your weapon swapping.

There is a military version of the pulsegun but it is only available on this sprue:

Maybe in the future, Kev will produce sprues of the gun only.

25-28mm is Hasslefree's default scale, so the pulse rifles will be on the wee side for GW figures. Their CAD guns are made to fit GW sized figures though, and are scaled larger:

History viewed from the inside is always a dark, digestive mess, far different from the easily recognizable cow viewed from afar by historians.

The CAD guns are GW28mm? damn I skipped out on a conversion idea while ago since most hasslefree stuff is to small to fit well with GW.

Yep. IIRC the masters were originally made by another company, and HF bought them, which is why they're not to the same scare. They're actually quite huge when compared to HF's figures: the assault rifles look like squad support guns, and the squad support guns look like crew served weapons. I like to use the no.11 as roof mounted heavy MGs for vehicles.

Heresy weapons are better scaled for the larger heroic GW IG:

(Hasslefree weapon far right).

Also work well with Em4 marines too:

Heresy's sniper rifle is nice too:

Good luck

The HF pulse rifles aren't a bad fit with Cadian plastics:

That's a great blog, hasn't sadly been updated for a year now.

Wow, thats perfect!  Thanks for the responses all, might have to have a look at the weapons available from Heresy as well.  May be a few months as I am at school with no space for miniatures currently, but will post pictures eventually.

Always pigiron! ;)

For ease I cut the plastic gun and the metal replacement at the trigger grip, you could just as easily cut it at the stock and attach from there.

The pulse rifles are a fine fit and size. They weren't large weapons in the movie as it was.

Also work well with Em4 marines too:

Oooo, pretty!

Two of them went off to someone in a trade, (Apu I think), the one with the smg received a SOTR russian gaskmask head and now fights for the resistence against the Skynet menace.

The result is so beautiful, but I really shouldn't buy even more of EM-4's marines, at least not until after I actually paint my first army up first one of these years...
