Have you seen this alien?
« on: February 18, 2011, 03:08:17 PM »
Hi,all.  I'm looking for a mini with a head like this (the body can look like anything at all):

He's the sidekick to the fat blue guy who sells River Song a vortex manipulator in last year's Doctor Who episode "The Pandorica Opens".  It occured to me that there might be a Star Wars mini or something that's close.

Any suggestions gratefully received. You could be saving the world from another example of my terrible sculpting.
Back from the dead, almost.

I've seen something very similar...they were demons.  I can't remember the name of the company but they had larger demons with a pair of tentacles sticking out of their backs.  The smaller ones had flame hounds or somesuch and were called something like demons of the hunt...

...maybe Sphere-Wars?

He looks like he could be replicated by a SW Rodian head with the antenae removed.
All my best ideas are someone elses

Would a Rodian be what Greedo is?

Yes, like Greedo.  Sorry, sometimes I forget not everyone is quite as much of a nerd as I am.  lol

If you go to look for one, you'll probably want to look for a generic rodian.  I think there are several and actual characters from the film tend to be more expensive.

Rodians have a weird snout-like face which would probably need resculpting though :(

Edit: How about a Quarren with new ears? (although he'd need a new mouth too looking at it...)

Thanks, guys.  Greedo/Rodian looks closest - just some ridges to add.  But I fancy that Sphere Wars mini as a Buffy demon now!

I would think Inso would sculpt you a passable head in exchange for a Grymn mini.  There new heavies coming soon, I hear.
A new war is about to start under alien suns.

I'm not sure whether that's a compliment or not...

...but I'm not in the frame for commissions (even friendly ones) at the moment because I am between countries :) .

Fully intended as a compliment.  Your work has been both intimidating and inspirational for some years.  I was, in fact, going to send you a grymn conversion which reflected one of your avatars once upon a time.  I was hoping one of the fine folk at HF could pass it along to you at whatever time you ordered the next set from them....but it's still here on my shelf.  Apologies.  Welcome home, if that's the direction.  Safe return, otherwise.

a'best,

e

Plastic ones are cheap and easy to modify....

This one would be relatively easy.  Ears and nose added.  Top knot removed.  Sorted.

Thanks for all the suggestions.  I've opted for a Rodian ambassador - about a quarter of the price of a Greedo, so I'm really glad to learn the generic name.
