Saint Francis itself was largely undefended at the time the rangers struck IIRC. They still bungled their surprise attack and the action was far less heroic than portrayed since it was basically burning out/killing defenceless women and children. Stephen Brumwell's "White Devil" is a pretty good read if you are interested in the events behind the movie.
I guess it is all down to how you view history, though. Last of the Mohicans could be considered close enough since it has French, Brits, and Indians, I guess.
