It's been a long time since I sold off the last of my Hinchliffe figures...  ::)
I think they would probably fit in size-wise with Perry's Sudan range, but the style is very different.

I'd certainly agree with the Cap'n.

They are of similar height and "build". The Connoisseurs, although still very nice figures, are showing there age, are a little "rougher" and are not quite as detailed as the Perrys. They tend to be in a very limited selection of poses, especially the irregular types like the Mahdists, but all the basic poses you'd need for company/battalion scale gaming are there. Considering how long ago they were sculpted, they are remarkably good figures and a taleted painter could really make them look comparable to more modern stuff.

This thread has reminded me I have a couple of bags of Connoisseur Sudan British infantry somewhere, which I have been meaning to clean up and paint for a while. I will happily use them together with my Perry stuff, but in separate units.

I will always have a fondness for the Peter Gilder Connoisseur and Hinchcliffe figures. Takes me back to carefree happier days :D

I have a number of these figures. I have mixed them in several units with the Essex Sudan fugures, and the seem to go well. I believe the Perry's are about the same size & heft as the Essex.

Not too far out. Not perfect, but certainly close enough for me at least.

I think if the painting style adcross the different makers' figures is consistent then the differences in sculpting style will be less apparent.

Certainly applies to me. I can make them all look equally bad.

I have a few of the "Gilder" Sudan Figures and was wondering if they would mix with the Perry's stuff, have intentions of a large unit of Camel Corps! Had an impulse recently to add some more of the Connaisseur British to my mountain of lead, did an order with Bicorne recently who were very quick and helpful with the order and some questions over horse posses as there are no images on their website!

If you can wait till tonight - and more importantly, if I can remember that far into the future ::) - I'll scan some comparison figures and post a pic here.

OK, spare 5 mins before work, so apologies for any dodginess in pics

From your left, Perry Egyptian, Connoisseur, Perry, Connoisseur officer, Empress officer, Copplestone Sikh, Perry correspondent

Perry and Connoisseur

The important thing for me is the rifles are pretty consistent and helmets, equipment etc are close enough.

Hope they help  :D
