Scratchbuilt truck (now finished and available)
« on: March 22, 2011, 07:32:07 AM »
I finally managed to complete a project started in 2008 - started out as an artillery tractor from WW2, then got sidetracked, put it aside, dug it up again, noticed oddities in scale and detail, put it away again and finally finished it after showing it at Tactica, and getting quite a few questions about it.

The model is 1:48 rather than 1:56, so it probably looks a bit out of scale next to 28 mm miniatures. It is cast in 7 pieces, wheels, body, undercarriage and bumper, and will be released as soon as I've finished painting it.

I'll use it for my post-apoc gang to drive around in (I'm not historically minded enough to be irritated by the fact that it's WW2  ;) ), but I think it could be equally at home in any BoB scenario (or probably even WW2...)

C&C welcome. Oh, and if anyone can come up with a more interesting name than "truck", that would be most welcome 8)

It's big, but not too big. Looks just the right sort of size for dealing with all that tough post-apoc terrain. It would be nice to see it with some home-made armour and gun-mounts etc welded onto it. I'm sure someone will do that very soon  :D

I've been waiting for this since I first saw your WIP photos. I'll be adding one to my Pardulon gang as soon as I can (well, after SALUTE actually).

Good work Jens, it looks great.

Well two things to say.
First, A very well and detailed model indeed. Very crisp and clean. Congrats to you on this accomplishment.
Second, easy way around the above issue being a WW2 vehicle. Just start with the end of the world happened in the 50's. There, problem solved.  :-)

1. true. a very fine model indeed
2. isn't that assault gun a tad too newfashioned for the fifties ?

Bulldog sounds good, but whenever I hear it, I think of the famous tractor of the same name:

Not exactly what I had in mind, but I'll probably settle for it anyway :)

Mancha, I'll take pictures tonight, but don't expect anything too spectacular. Simple dropcast molds for body and undercarriage, and two-part molds for wheels and bumper. Won't work without a vacuum, though.
