Looks pretty convincing to me. The old Napoleonic Staff Corps of Cavalry did wear red with blue facings, so there was a precedent for it

just looked again and the MFP didn't become permenantly established till 1885 so it's probable that they didn't start wearing the different armbands till then.

I did count this as a draw many days ago, but I didn't realised until now that it is really hard to get a draw.
If that is the case in the end I think we deserve extra points for that.
