Trolls. There is a book of Kerstin Ekman about a troll from Sweden (the French title is : "Les brigands de la forêt de Skule").

Or have a look in Lapon litterature and folklore, we should not forget the Lapon element in Finland:

Sorry, Cottrell, that is definitely NOT 'Skägglav', as any Dane-Swede-Norwegian and perhaps Finnlander would tell you. That's a North-American wendigo-cum-D&D creature. Not trying to be sanarky here, just a bit of cultural sensitivity training.  ;)

He's a downed Allied agent in talks with the Fins to turn sides and actively help against the Ratzis.

Tell me a more compelling negotiator then Bigfoot's cousin?

Louhi would kick the sh*t out of him with her magical wings and claws. ;)

I still want to see the Mechamannerheim. Or is that crossing a line?

 lol

No, not if it is mecha-on-a-shoe-string/nicked Soviet technology enough. The thing should be built on Swedish-French-Soviet-German-British components fit together with a lot of Finnish seasoned combat engineer experience. It should only be lobbing Molotov cocktails, fight close combat like a mad man with a giant puukko, run on 190 proof cellulose vodka and there would only be one of each series. And it would KICK ASS.

I may come across as flippant but I say with with all the admiration I have in me. :)

I pity the poor logistics officers who will have to travel interminably on ferries with duty-free shops to procure the fuel at an affordable price. Oh, the hardship one endures in war.

Some sort of light vehicle that is on a ski base or sled base that has a big prop fan out the back like a Florida swamp boat to get it moving about.
You could have it equipped with some machine guns or rockets and fragile but fast support.
Also with all the talk I am surprised no one has mentioned Ukko or maybe i am thinking of Perkele, i see him as an old man version of Thor from the marvel comics moving around the battlefield shooting people with lightening and shouting "have at thee".
And also Tursas, moving around in the forest fighting everything in one on one combat.
And lastly maybe also a bear like the Ursus from SOTR Russians.
I don't know a lot about Finnish folk lore so i might be thinking more Norse but i hope this helps.

Ok, how  weird is weird? During the Winter War, in 1939oviets tested some monster prototype tanks. At least one broke down inside Finnish lines. The Soviets later recovered it but you could always posit that the Finns stole it and copied it.

http://www.battlefield.ru/en/tank-development/32-experimental-vehicles/54-smk.html.

Now, if you want to make one you'll ideally want at least 2X models KV-1s and a T-26 turret. If you wre doing this in 1/72 then you could do it quite cheaply using the Pegasus kits. In 28mm you might want to look at Hobby Boss or Tamiya's 1/48 offerings. You could really surprise an opponent with one of these and of course the Finns were notable users of captured kit.

Thanks for the huge amount of suggestions.

I'm definitely a fan of Mechamannerheim or the Lapland folklore. Trolls, gods, nice ideas. ;)

Remember that the mythology of Finland and the Baltic states is not quite the same as the Norse pantheon.
