28mm Wild West Ranch
« on: 05 May 2011, 12:25:50 AM »
Hi Guys, some of you may have seen this from other sites.
I built this 28mm ranch a while back and thought you'd like to see it. It's 4 feet long by 3 feet wide.
I still have a few more things to build for it when i get time.

Cheers!

Gaz.

Beautiful! It's not just the details, which are splendid (the louvered panel above the door of the barn, the chicken in the coop, and so on), it's the overall look of it too. The lumber that makes up the structures is perfect - how did you paint it? Tips and descriptions would be greatly appreciated by everyone, I think!
Oh, it needs to be said, the two models you posted for scale are also beautifully painted -are there more?

Sorry, i forgot to add this:
The whole ranch is made from foamcore (walls) and the rooftops are all strips of breakfast cereal box.
Polystyrene rocks.

I painted it by wet blending mostly.
The colours used were:Black undercoat, Dark brown, medium brown, desert sand and light grey.

Vallejo paints would be:
German cam black brown 822
English Uniform 921
German cam orange ochre 824?
Light grey 990
Woodgrain lines were done with a dark brown wash.

Cheers Guys ;)

Did you paint on the wood grain? :o It looks more like strips of balsa wood on your foamcore it's that good!
