20mm Afghanistan
« on: 06 May 2011, 12:30:42 AM »
I posted some pics of my 20mm Afghanistan kit over at The Guild a few days ago if anyone is interested. All my pics are in one thread. I'm pretty sure you don't need to be a member to see them, but if you do, please let me know and I'll just repost them here.

Those are very very cool, how did you do the tanks by the way? Have a few T-72s I am suffering to build up!

WOW  :-* :-* :-*
Some very, very nice paint jobs.
Care to expand on the painting method.
Only really just getting back into this scale and I am struggling to get good paint jobs on the vehicles.

Thanks lads. It's done by using the "sponge method" of sponging on paint over a black undercoat to create dramatic highlights using triangle makeup sponges. It's a son-of-a trying to build up tan color over black but loads of patience and paint and it's worth the while. For the tan colors I used a base of FolkArt "Honeycomb", and the final highlight is a very light pass of DecoArt Tan.

I learned the technique from Mike Ruffle over at the Eleven-Bravo site years ago: http://www.eleven-bravo.co.uk/reviews/figures/britannia/m113acav.php#painting and use it for all my vehicles.

Very nice collection. I really like the neat style of your paintjob :-*
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://tistaminis.com/

Ah thanks! Will see if i can do a similar thing with my own once i have the patience to build up the kits I bought! What sort of game are you planning to come out with? Just wondering if your doing a future styled what if with a Challenger 2 in the Afghan mix!

It seems to be Dragon kits/diecasts for some models (as a ill-fated gamer, I intended to mix Dragon Humvees with BF evo minis [little 28mm]....  :? ). Maybe S&S models too.
A word for miniatures, scenery and rules compulsive buying ? Zhobbyllness !

Nah, just didn't know where else to use it. Or display it for that matter.
