Who was Major General Tremorden Rederring?
« on: 08 May 2011, 08:42:32 PM »
Who is/was Major General Tremorden Rederring's of the Colonial Era Wargames Page? I would love to thank him for his inspiring website. I stumbled upone it years ago at a time when I was starting to loose my faith in Games Workshop, and it launched me on a rugged, and sometimes difficult, but always scenic path through to the land of 'independent wargaming manifacturers'.
The last time I checked the Major General Tremorden Rederring's Colonial Era Wargames Page it had not been updated for many years. Now it appears to have gone completly. I was just wondering who was behing the site, and if they are still part of the online gaming comunity in one form or another (are they even members of LAF)? I figured you fine upstanding son's (and daughters) of the Empire would be the best people to ask.
Theres more 28mm Superhero Madness at my blog, http://fourcoloursupers.blogspot.com/
And for Ultra-modern Wargaming check out Hotel Zugando at http://ultramoderngaming.blogspot.co.uk/

Guy named David in Texas. Check the colonialwar Yahoo group for his full name. I don't think he is gaming anymore.

Oh dear it has gone to that gaming table in the sky. It's one of the few sites I link to on my blog as it had been such a tremendous influence especially in my 6mm colonial gaming.

A great shame it's gone.

According to postings on the yahoo colonial wars list, theres been a temporary glitch in the hosting services, and the site will eventually be rehosted  and with mirror sites for posterity.  ;)

And I`m crossing my fingers for the rebirth - splendid stuff...
Best regards

Yeah - it's expected to be back up in the next few weeks - you can still access it via the way back machine for now - I have a link to it on my blog: http://wargaming.info/2011/an-old-friend-thought-lost/

P.S. Major-General Tremorden Rederring was David Helber (the Wargaming Group was known as the "Ouargistan Wargamers" or such). :)

I am delighted to see it is not gone for good, and I am greatly endebted to David for opening my eyes to a world of none-GW wargaming. Even though I don't play Colonial-era now, I still have my miniatures, and occatioally get them out for a Pulp-era, or for role playing games. If you corrispond with him at all, please pass on my regards.

Here here. Couldn't agree more. It too was a great influence on my war gaming beginnings.

Let's hope the Major General's Site lives on forever.

Phew! I'm so glad that marvelous site hasn't gone for good! It has been a major influence on my move into Darkest Africa-style gaming.

The Major General is the reason why I ever got into colonial gaming. If not for him, I'd be stuck in the Dark Ages. I don't think I ever finished my Vikings.  ;)

Yes indeed. I never ever played any colonial adventures, but the Ouargistan site was an absolute inspiration to the indie wargaming spirit, a real revelation that wargaming could be whatever you make it. Hope it makes a reappearance soon!

His site is what inspired me to start creating terrain and wargaming in general.

Their mad obsessed gaming was a major influence on The League of Extraordinary Kriegspielers.  So much richness, content, links, creative work and most of all imagination!  Glad the site will live on, but a shame he has stopped gaming.
