It is about a gang of German 16 year olds set to defend a bridge in Germany during the last months of the war.
I am watching the German 2008 TV remake which I think's got unfairly poor criticism on IDBM but I am certainly interested in seeing the original.

Do you talk about "Die Brücke" "The bridge?" if yes, please, please throw it away, the re-make was the greatest bulls*** I have ever seen. So many mistakes, so unreal ... kinda crap

English title: The City of Lost Children

This one really took bme by surprise! It's a fairytale very much in the style of Terry Gilliam, Dark City and El Laberinto del Fauno (Pan's Labyrinth). Beautifully made and a nice story too. I can heartily recommend it to anyone who enjoys these kind of movies.

Yes, I have the DVD as well. It's by the makers of "Amélie Poulain" and "Un long dimanche de fiançailles" (a very long engagement) (the latter also has some nice WW1 scenes).

if you like those! add Delicatessen to the lot, a very unique post-apocalipse movie!

Caught a rather enjoyable film at the weekend. I'm sure you can guess what it was from this picture...


Must admit I was already something of a Coen Brothers fan, but I especially enjoyed this one. Very... interesting. Almost makes one want to take up Legends of the Old West gaming in a 1980s setting.

One of their best. Only beaten by Fargo and right next to The Big Lebowski.

Javier Bardem's Anton Chigurh made it up there to the most uncanny psychos in film history and here I'm thinking Anthony Hopkin's Hannibal Lecter, Jack Nicholson's Jack Torrace, Anthony Perkin\s Norman Bates and Ted Levine's Jame Gumb.

Such a great movie.  After watching it I got onto my motorcycle forum and expressed how, in some twisted way, it made me proud to be a Texan.  At least five people responded to say they felt the same.

Ahhh, Death Rides a Horse. I remember seeing that many years ago in a Spaghetti Western season on the Beeb. You have got to love any western starring Lee Van Cleef.

Picked up Pathfinder last week in a sale. Absolutely awful, but I'm thinking of buying some Vikings and native Americans to make up a couple of warbands for SBH.

Also picked up Return of the Living Dead 2. Not as good as I remembered, but still fun. At some point I'm going to stick some zombies in a US Jeep.

The wife has a thing for Egypt and had me pick up Bob Brier's lecture series on DVD from the local library. It has been great to listen to while painting in the evenings. I did some checking and found out the company that makes it has a whole host of other lectures available on all topics and my library carries a lot of them in either DVD or CD format.
