Damn good flick, as far as docu dramas go.  I understand it was originally a mini series on TV in Portugal.
Em dezembro de '81
Botou os ingleses na roda
3 a 0 no Liverpool
Ficou marcado na história
E no Rio não tem outro igual
Só o Flamengo é campeão mundial
E agora seu povo
Pede o mundo de novo

Hello everybody!

A bit of threadomancy here, but I've just watched The Flu (in Korean*) on my PC and I quite enjoyed it. I also own The Host on DVD. I would like to know if you have any suggestions for other Koreans movies that have Post-Apoc, Contagion, Monsters, Aliens Invasion or Zombies Infestation twists? English translation or close caption are best but Korean is OK too... if that's a good movie.

Cheers!

* didn't understand a thing of the dialogues... lol
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

Not often you find good stuff in a charity shop, but these gems were only a £1 each:

'So do all who see such times. But that is not for us to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that we are given.'

I wasn't that impressed with C.S.A. but did enjoy "it happened here". Great finds all around.
Both do provide great "what if" gaming fodder.

Just saw "Bone Tomahawk" - great movie with opportunities for a crossover from the "13th Warrior"

Because I was up when it dropped on Netflix, I just got done watching Bright.

It had the the odd feel of being a TV script filmed with a big Hollywood budget. Y'know how TV movies are often written so that big events play out in a conspicously small way on a conspicously limited stage, because the budget is so small that the story has to be written entirely around it, like the way software had to be written back in the 8-bit days? It's that kind of script... only shot with big-budget production values.

But it works. I enjoyed it. There's some good urban fantasy imagery in there (check out the centaur in police riot gear) and they REALLY take the advantage of the allegorical leaning elements in ways that actual realistic fiction or historical dramatizations about the same subject too often chicken out on, yet feels real.

From the trailers a lot of people were comparing it to Shadowrun, and that's just as apt in the movie itself. No cyberpunk, and the world in this film has always had fantasy folk in it, but otherwise it's pretty spot on, and I'll bet Shadowrun fans will absolutely eat it up.

Also I really liked the orcs. I kinda favor the modern sort of "fantasy klingons" interpretation of orcs you see in video games, but feel like most versions of that I see are only half good (including the actual Star Trek klingons). The scene with the orc gang boss in this movie manages to pretty much hit it out of the park in one go. Plus the orc makeup is really good.
History viewed from the inside is always a dark, digestive mess, far different from the easily recognizable cow viewed from afar by historians.

Matewan, a 1987 film by John Sayles.  Its about the bespoke battle in the West Virginia Coal Mine Wars.  Good movie - I got it at the Mine wars Museum in Matewan, WV a couple weeks ago.  I've already watched it... :D

Colorised Earth vs. the Flying Saucers (1956). A good idea for a wargame re-using aliens and WWII US Army!

Just watched the wonderful Goodbye Lenin- fascinating historical film about the GDR, with a great sense of humour and a real heart to it as well.
