Pontypool - brilliant fresh take on the zombie genre.
There was nothing in the local news about a zombie attack in south Wales! lol

Watched it from start to finish the otherday - enjoy it Tomas (although I admit I could just as easily have watched Aliens, 4 times over).

Personally I think Alien is the best of the bunch, but I know I'm a minority thinking that.

An inspiring variant of an invasion of the USandA   lol
"The Mouse That Roared" - the unforgetable Peter Sellers.

Use the new Perry "War of the roses" plastics vs. "modern" troops of the 50's?  ;)

Here an additional very good series for modern combat:

Pretty decent movie about the siege of Port Arthur (1905) and the Battle of Tsushima.  Not a lot of land-based combat but some very nice model ships.  Even the subtitles aren't too bad, other than one reference to 1938! Plus, it stars Toshiro Mifune.  'Nuff said!

Amazon only wanted just over three quid for the DVD of this, so I bit their hand off. Also got a copy for big bruv, he likes it too, mostly because he is obsessed with Japanese tattoos (to the extent of being covered with them himself):

Classic cult 70s thriller.

Love it!

Rome, the miniseries:

I just rented the whole series and am about half-way through rewatching it. Good stuff-it is very evocative and gives a great sense of the momentous events of the time even if the history is a bit dodgy in places. I hope it will move me to get back to work on my WF Caeserian Legionnaires.

Also, Halo Legends:

The first two episodes I thought were very good. I enjoyed the animation style and thought the whole summary backstory  to the Halo universe was engrossing and well-represented. One other episode was mildly intriguing. The rest-well, if such as thing as mind bleach existed...
