I find this in the discount bin at the local Zellers

It was about 6.00$ Not too bad for a nice, little animation film 8)
A CANADIAN local hobby store with a small selection of historical wargames miniatures (mainly from Warlords). They also have a great selection of paint and hobby accessories from Vallejo, Army painter, AK Interactive, Green Stuff World and more.; https://www.kingdomtitans.ca/us/

El Alamein a film by Enzo Monteleone (great movie and probably one of the better movies for this genre, sad about the mock-up tanks. Based around a unit of the Pavia division), and

Attack and Retreat - Italians in Russia during WWII. A B&W film, a long film but very interesting.

Anyone else think that the new Inglorious Bastards is plain wrong on so many levels?

It was an orgy of wrongness. Can't say I enjoyed it much.

It depends on what you mean by "plain wrong"?!

It does not purport to be a historically accurate arty-farty "Letters of Iwo Jima" kind of movie.

I enjoyed Inglorious Bastards very much.

It went wrong when I started to think the German sergeant they murdered was braver than the Americans.  I identified more with the "supposed" bad guys.

I think that's part of the ploy... A war has two sides two it, and twisting our views on something is what art is supposed to do (or so I've been told).

Now, I haven't watched it, yet, but if you think of it: The average German soldier probably felt he was fighting a good fight for his country, culture, and way of life. Sound familiar?

While I accept that statement as true, I do not think it applies to this movie.

I agree, the German sergeant was highly decorated and refused to lead his friends into an ambush, they clubbed him to death with a baseball bat, shot a second in the back while he was surrendered and carved a swastika into the forehead of a third.  All of this, mind, after they had scalped the rest of the dead German soldiers, all wehrmacht, not SS.  It was sick.

Yes, there was no respect for a honourable enemy. They acted like animals. I understand that was the whole point, but it still makes it hard to sympathise with them at all (in fact, I quickly found I was hoping they would just die).
