Orion! Oh my! If you have seen it you can make everything into a spaceship. The old flat iron as a... was it a steering device? Anyway, this is as trashy as German TV has ever got.

Valley of the Wind was a great flick and I'm not to big on anime.  Great look to it and the air battle with the huge cargo ships was awesome.  The insects would make for some great miniatures on a Skull Island like game.

Great addition to any collection,
Brian

hey, I also just rented that one late week. Thught it was okay, but in now way inspired me to do anything gaming related...  not enough real action in there and the humor was just off key for me...  had a few good laughs though, just not enough...

I love that film. Not everyon'e cup of tea, I know, mainly because of it's very deadpan, dry sense of humour.

Some brilliant Pulpy ideas though, and I love the evil mummy in cowboy boots and ten gallon hat.

I like the Elvis back story but as a whole it was a snore.

I can see why you'd say that. It is quite slow moving, I admit. I think that's just the way Don Coscarelli like his movies though, quite languid and halucinatory, I mean, have you seen any of the Phantasm movies?

Then again, it's set in a retirement home, so I would expect it to be a bit on the slow side.

My full set of the Daily Mail Classic War Movie collection turned up today! Hurrah!

Set comprises:

The Heroes of Telemark
A Matter of Life and Death
Return From the River Kwai
Reach for the Sky
In Which We Serve
Aces High
Above us the Waves
Went the Day Well?
Battle of the River Plate
The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp
Escape to Athena
All Quiet on the Western Front
Ill Met by Moonlight
I Was Monty's Double
The Long and the Short and the Tall
Tunes of Glory

In a rather nice presentation box. Very happy with all those, just need to convince Her Imperial Majesty to let me watch the damn things now!

(You know, I could have sworn John Mills was in more of them than he actually is. It's like he's become the default face of Plucky Little Brittain whenever anyone mentions a WW2 film. You just assume he's in it. Him or Dickie Attenborough. Sometimes both.)

Tunes of Glory

Uhhhh... Fabulous film.
Alec Guinness - stunning.
He believed this was amongst his best performances too, so it must have been good.

(Not as good as Obi-Wan Kenobi, obviously, but possibly on a par with his Charles I  ;))
