Finally got round to watching
The Way Ahead at the weekend:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0037449/Came as part of the War Movies box set from the Daily Mail a few months ago as previously discussed on here.
What a brilliant film.

David Niven and William Hartnell were excellent, as usual, and the supporting cast was superb. The class differences being slowly burned away during basic training is utterly believable, and the action scenes when they eventually come are very realistic and genuinely perilous for all involved.
Even The Woman enjoyed it, much to my surprise.
Given the way the film is structured, I kind of look on it as a sort of "Full Tweed Jacket".
The battle at the end is brilliant too. Who couldn't be moved by the resolution of the plucky Tommies? Heavily outnumbered and outgunned, next to no ammunition, down to half strength after a lengthy bombardment, what can they possibly do?
Simple: Fix bayonets, and advance.
Worth checking out if you haven't already. A hugely enjoyable 9/10.
