Pirate or Privateer
« on: 16 May 2011, 09:42:25 PM »
Some Pirates, opps-"Privateers" stand ready to add to their wealth, by takings that of their enemies.  One steals from others for private gain while the other steals from others for private gain in the name of king and country. A suptle but important difference-especially in court.
Four of this loose crew of pirate/privateers are ready for review:

Both were risky job titles. If you failed for "King and Country" penalties could be equally bad.

Sir Walter Raleigh was a privateer for Queen Elizabeth I and had her favour but King James had him thrown into the Tower of London for 12 years. King James waived his death sentence and sent him to find El Dorado (treasure) and he failed and was subsequently beheaded.
Yearly painting challenges only show me how useless I am at painting...
