Indian Mutiny - New period

Hi all. After being inspired by Yankeepedlars Indian Mutiny battle reports I have decided to take the plunge into the mutiny.
Started this project 4 weeks ago and have finished my first batch of 60  Mutineers and 60 British. All figs are Old Glory. Painted up very fast, so not best paint job in world but hey. Bases yet to be completed.
Getting ready to order next lot tomorrow. Plan is to have both armies finished for when David releases his new "Devils Wind" rules.

That certainly is speedy painting. 

The rules play a treat and are worth the wait.  Still, gives you time to get some cavalry and artillery done.

Super progress there! Looking good already. I can report that, all being well, the rules will start going through the printing process in early July with a view to being on sale ~ hopefully through the usual outlets ~ in September.
Really they have to be, as we're off to Australia in October and November!

Not too shabby there. I can't say I'm a huge fan of OG, they do have some odd poses, but their mutiny figs are pretty good, and en masse they look the part, and they are good value for money, the Foundry miniatures being way overpriced these days. Good job sir.

Dont mind old glory myself, and like you said they are fairly well priced. Although still having to sneak them past the wife!!!

Placed large order with Old Glory this morning for rest of stuff. Chap I spoke to said he was selling out of Indian mutiny as fast as he can get it in at the moment, and said he cant understand the sudden rush on the period.
Maybe those battle reports are pulling in a lot of people.

Don't get me wrong, for what they are Old Glory are fine, and buying in batches of about 30 figures, for their prices, is very reasonable. Its just that some of the poses are probably not humanly possible to achieve. I love their ACW range, but I have only bought the marching figures. Some of the more "active" poses can look a bit odd.

Anyway those units will look great when they have command and flags etc. It might be worth looking at E-bay, as occasionally good deals come up on batches of unpainted Foundry mutiny figures, and they are compatible with OG. Sadly the Mutineer Miniatures range isn't, they are too big. Still its nice to see somebody has been inspired by Bickley Sahib's excellent battle reports.

Out of idle curiousity, whereabouts in Suffolk are you?

Must admit some of the head positions are a bit weird. Good to know about Mutineer not fitting in. I was going to use their command figures, guess it will be the Old Glory route although not sure I need a whole bag of command figures.

Im in Sudbury, not far from Bury-St-Edmunds / Colchester / Ipswich. How bout you?

I dont think the Mutineer command figs would look too far out if my OG Chinese are anything to go by and if these are smaller what about the Foundry ones?
