Neo-Soviet Dropship
« on: June 10, 2011, 11:05:06 PM »
Here's something I cobbled together from bits of different Star Wars toys and models plus some GI Joe toys:

There's still lot of work to be done (weathering; masking of the decals, etc), but I expect it to be ready this Monday. If anyone wants to see the construction process (in Portuguese):

And no...those aren't AT-AT feet glued on to the sides...those are anti-gravitic engines!  :D

Looks great! I can't wait to see it finalized.

I seem to remember seeing your WIP somewhere and it really did just look like an ATAT with the feet stuck to the side... that looks great... the feet would make more sense if they were supporting engines though

EDIT: hmmm looking at the link though, I think I'm thinking of someone elses... were wheels involved at some point?

That's exactly what I thought when I saw them  ;)

Excellent conversion of recognizeable stuff into something unique. I'm also looking forward to seeing it completed  :D

Thanks for all the feedback. That's what's keeping me motivated to finish it.

anevilgiraffe: No, no wheels involved. But I think I know the WIP you are talking about. I think someone posted a similar project on TMP some time ago. I'll check my archives for the pics. It was a yellow dropship...with bit rotors on the side, supported by the feet. My idea was similar but I didn't had anything that could pass as engines (only those 2 little ones that I used as maneuvering engines) so I just glued the feets and called them anti-grav engines ;)

Ironworker: your spaceport project, with all those converted ships was one of the things that convinced me to do this one. Thanks for the inspiration.

demi_morgana: My main idea is that I can use it both for 28mm gaming and 15mm (although in that scale that would be a very big ship indeed).

I think its my Dropship your are thinking of. I quite like the look of your version. It looks a lot faster than mine.

@Dan - Yes, that's the one. Great job indeed! Your model is great but I didn't had the jet engines for it. What did you use? Engines from a 1/35 A-10? And I see a lot of Robogear stuff - T-Rex cockpit, legs and a gun? And the rotors are PC fans, right? ;)
