John Carter Tin Man Figures Redux (Pics Heavy)
« on: June 12, 2011, 07:19:34 PM »
Hello all,

Haven't posted for a while.  Been busy painting.  Just got the JCM figures from Tin Man.   I've posted somewhere before that I bought 'em based on pics posted in this forum.  I didn't want to post on that thread because I didn't want to step on the other guys toes, so to speak.  But I'm gonna pay you all back by posting mine.    Here they are.   Suggestions/criticism/praise are always welcome.

Here's the first one.   Both JC and his honey Dejah Thoris together.   I made the bases a little wider, but to be frank, these are now my DEFINITIVE John Carter figs.

Here are some detail shots of John Carter:

And here is the lovely Dejah Thoris, Princess of Mars, looking as stunning as ever:

And lastly, here is a panoply of minis I've used in the past for the purpose:

Left to Right:  Ral Partha Jungle Lord conversion and Slave Auction hottie conversion,   Bronze Age Minis , and Tin Man Minis.

I guess you could call that picture "evolution" as well.

Enjoy!

On first release I disliked the Tim Man minis - however after seeing your work on them I re-evaluating that judgement.

Great work on all of JC figures.

Nice metals on those.  I like your version of red skin on Dejah, but John looks a little too pale (although I guess that would be understandable).

Comparing all three versions, I kind of like the Bronze Age (BA) versions.  The BA version of Dejah may be a little too saucy, but she looks more capable than the Tin Man version, who looks somewhat too helpless in that pose.  It sould be fun to throw a Tin Man Dejah head on the BA Dejah body and see what you get.   :)

Very nicely done! I prefer the Tin Man figures to the Bronze Age line myself, but one does wish they they would release some more figures...  ;)

I usually photo my stuff outside.  The pic is actually a bit paler than the original.   That old sun, y'know?  shows a world of sins.

I agree.   Not to knock bronze age.  I like their stuff.  If I had my drathers and were building an army, my stuff would be heavy on the bronze age red men with some parroom station stuff thrown in.   For holy therns and the like, same deal, except a bit heavier on the parroom for those.   Haven't seen any yellow men yet, but those would be great.

I have almost all of bronze age's green men, and they're great!  Here's even a teaser pic without a link!

You have to add the antennae "ears" for historical accuracy purposes, of course, but otherwise great, animated figures.

I like that ears needed quotation marks, but historical accuracy didn't.    :D

Very nice!

I painted Tin Man's green man once and loved it. very great sculpting. I also wish they'd release a lot more  ;)
