BKC rules - AARs, reviews, Experiences/opinions
« on: June 16, 2011, 02:53:07 PM »
I am considering going back into WW2 in 1/600th scale and looking at rules - thinking the BKC rules might be good if I buy the CWC and FWC rules so my WW2/Modern/SF games would have common mechanics (in general.)  Please point me towards information that might help me make a good decision.  Buying must wait until Grand Kids go home near the end of June so it's not a rush decision.

Gracias,

Glenn

If you are a control freak (i.e. you think all your toys should move whenever you want) then they will not suit. If, like me, you think command and control/fog of war is important then they are great. They really give a good game, especially in the smaller scales. High command values are crucial but you can still see whole commands refuse to move for one or more turns - frustrating but in a realistic way. Combined arms really works. I play Russians 1943 and Italians 1941/2 with BKC and Pax Arcadia by Dark Realm with FWC and I love them to bits. Haven't played CWC but my Russian Cold War stuff is on the painting run at the moment.
I'm sure there are reviews out there (Wargames Journal used to plug them a lot) but I don't know of any specific items.

I really like them, why not pop over to their forum and have a chat with some players?

Good rules for solo play as they are command oriented.  Based on the Warmaster system.  I have run this game at three wargame conventions and by the end of the first turn, the folks who had never played it before understood the basics.  As a game master, I just sat back and let the players run the game.
