Brilliant work on all of them!

If I had painted them I couldn't give them back!

These are superb! Its the level of quality I aspire to with my repaints, turning HC into original characters. Did you strip them at all first or simply paint overtop? Could you give us a quick run down of your process if it is at all different the the good ol' basecoat/layering technique we know and love?

Excellent work.  I wish my HC re-paints were that clean.  Itoo would like to know if you strip them first.  I tend to just overpaint after cleaning mold lines.
This is my boomstick!

thanks for all the nice words guys! glad you like them, good news is the customer likes them too  8)

Usually i wash the figures with detergent to remove grease. Then if the paint is realy thick i remove them from the base and strip them with acetone. ( I didn't have to do that with this batch as the paint wasn't too thick).

Any mould lines are cleaned up with a knife and file. any filling is done at this point with greenstuff. ( both catman and black panthers capes needed filling.)

The figures are then undercoated by brush with a slightly thinned matt black.

Painting then follows the 'foundry-dallimore' style. I paint on the shade colour, then a mid-tone and usually 2 lighter highlight shades. It's quite bright and 'cartoony' and suits supers very well.

Then the figure is sealed with 2 coats of varnish. A humbrol gloss and when this is dry a matt finish with testors dullcote.

jim

Quite surprise how good these turned out. I gave up repainting heroclix long ago - but these here are awesome, Great, great job.

Don't recall the orange/yellow caped guy - who is he? And more important, what colours did you use achieving that orange colour?  ::) Been trying hard doing orange lately, myself - but cant get 'the right tone' - either too yellow or too brown - but this here looks about right. Will you let me in on how you did this?

Hi clam,

He's DC's catman.
The orange was done with the darkest shade being GW foundation
Paints 'solar maccharius orange' , the next 3 higher shades
are the foundry 'orange' triad from 'a' up to 'c'
I find it works really well,
Hope that helps.

Regards

Jim
