I paint my Zombie & survivor bases a simple dark grey that blends in well with concrete, asphalt or pavement. Bases do not have to be fancy to look good. Painted bases will also make you painted minis look cool.

While not the best minis available nowadays, I think MegaMinis have a certain charms… plus "Old School" style seem to be "en vogue" lately.

I paint my Zombie & survivor bases a simple dark grey that blends in well with concrete, asphalt or pavement. Bases do not have to be fancy to look good. Painted bases will also make you painted minis look cool.

I think that Vallejo’s Medium Sea Grey work very well to represent pavement.

You have a nice collection of Mega Minis. I have lots of their stuff too, but mostly fantasy and animals.

IMHO, just painting the bases brown or gray will make your figs look A LOT BETTER.

If you add sand before painting, and a light drybrush, they'll be top notch.

Hope to see some of your zombies too.

Thanks for all your nice comments. Base will be painted soon with acrylic grey (that I used for my jersey barrier / Easter Island heads).

What do you mean by "old school" style ? My painting style or using MM miniatures ? 

If you add sand before painting, and a light drybrush, they'll be top notch.

No sand+drybrush planned for the moment but I'll certainly rebase them (next year or so) on washers and I'll add plaster-like filler and maybe some rocks (desert apocalypse setting to match my BF Evolution forces and buildings)

I meant the style of the figures themselves, the way they are sculpted.

Thats some nice neat painting, en masse. I've never used the technique myself but simply dipping those miniatures could potentially add a lot of depth to them. Alternatively you could look at getting some washes to pick up all the details.

I already washed them (ogryn flesh/badab black/devlan mud on almost all miniatures and sometimes asurmen blue/leviathan purple/gryphone sepia and thrakka green).  The fact is that MM is a little poor on details.

Dipping is not my taste (I think it's only for zombie/aliens/bugs), maybe because I use matt varnish spray only (does someone know a good varnish to be use with brushes ?)

Gnotta from "Chez Gnotta" blog told me I forgot the hood of my jacket... it will be added soon and bases will be painted grey.

after the wash, drybrush 'em with a lighter tone of the original colours. that should create a little more contrast.

Well, among others I use Vallejo's matt varnish. However, you might consider putting a glosscoat on them first. That's way stronger, so better protection and the matt coat afterwards makes the gloss disappear anyway.

I do know someone that swear by Testors Dullcoat but he says to look for the square bottles, not the round as he found that varnish to dissolve his paint 

Personly I finish with it aal with Army Painter's Anti-Shine (spraycan)
