A small update of the WIP of the Docks.
Having finished all the drybrushing a couple of weeks ago, I got distracted by making the board.
The board really needed to be finished first so that I could get playing again.
Legionaire Bert is poping over with his Dwarves on Saturday, so the board was paramount.
Having finished that, I thought it would be nice to use the Docks, if I could get them finished.
Right, well the drybrushing was done; On to the water.
The 'water' was quite simple.
Some suitable paper napkins were found, kitchen roll would have worked just as well, but finding kitchen roll without a pattern embossed in it is quite difficult. The napkins I chose just had small dimples embossed and these would work just fine if they showed after painting.
The surface areas that were due to be the 'water' were painted with watered-down wood glue and the napkins placed on and then just pushed around with a wet brush until I got the effect I was looking for, to attempt to simulate waves or ripples.
Once happy with this, it was just a case of painting another layer of watered-down glue and waiting for it to dry out.
There were a couple of areas that were built up slightly higher to represent waves splashing against the sides of the ships that would be glued in place later.
The whole thing, once dry, was then painted Humbrol Black-Green.
On top of this a coat of Windsor and Newton Olive green was wetbrushed, and then a few layers with white added to the olive in increasing amounts was drybrushed on.
A final heavy wetbrush of white was added in a few areas to try and create a good effect.
Here are a couple of shots taken as they stand at this point;

A couple of closer shots of individual elements;

The white area on the last picture is where one of the ships will be fixed.
Now on to 'weathering' all of the elements and adding the resin pieces that we previously used.
Should all be done before Saturday, when we will takes some pictures of the finished Docks and also some of the games in progress.
Bring on the Stunties, Robbo!
