Right!
Enough waffle, I hear you say, time for some pictures...

Grabbed a couple of hours last night to get the base colours done.

I have tried to make the colour of the wood on each of the three buildings a different shade to indicate that they are indeed seperate.

Happy with the two outer buildings but the one in the centre not so.
I will need to darken the timbers some more and tidy up the overall messy look.

Also managed to get the basis of the rubble piles down.
The roof tiles will be a different shade when finished as they almost blend into the wood on the central structure as they are at the moment.
Plenty more to do to one of the floor surfaces, as that looks very plain at the moment.
Will get this level finished before I add the second storey and stairs/walkways etc...

Anyway, here are a couple of shots to show how far it has progressed.
Apologies for the rather ropey picture. It appears to make some of the colours seem very bright. Taking pics at night, just a flash for lighting just does not work, but I think that you get the general idea of what it looks like.

Hope to get a bit more done early next week.
Will post more pictures as it develops.
Have already got some plans of how to approach the Halfling Quarter.
That may well be next.

Until then....

OOOH! That looks TERRIFIC in GLORIOUS living color. WONDERFULLY WELL DONE!

OK, DeafNala, what are you up to now.........????

Well since you asked, The Spooky Forest Project is part of a Post Apocalypse style setting. SO a ruined, shanty town like one of the cobbled together villages surrounding Mordheim is in the works. Pieces like your Slum Quarter are GREAT inspiration for the Beasty.
I'd NEVER join a club that would have me as a member.  G.Marx

If I can be of any help at all, that would be great.
Not that I feel you need any help, you seem to have far too many ideas of your own.
With that being the case, I will take that as a huge compliment.
Thank you!

A village for your local denezens would be FANTASTIC!
I see you have a hankering for Four A's Sea Demons. They would make excellent inhabitants for one of your shanty towns.
The village of the Bog Dwellers!

The Spooky Forest Project is part of a Post Apocalypse style setting.

That is a great idea, DeafNala.
I always saw the Spooky Forest as a fantasy setting, but a twisted wood in Post-apoc is great!
Post-apocalyptic Fantasy.
What a great idea!

That slum is great  8)

Looks just the part, ramshackle and busy to bursting  :-*

A few more of those with plenty of walkways inbetween would be corking!

cheers

Thanks, James!

I have plans for at least three more, one of which will now be the Halfling Quarter (already drawn up a plan for that one- its all Ninja's fault for getting the little grey cells ticking on overtime!)

There will be plenty of walkways involved, with special rules for 'oversized' models attempting to traverse halfling-sized walkways!
The one that is already WIP progress will have a walkway on the flat area at second-storey level.
It is in the first picture several posts back.
This will have stairs in the front courtyard leading up to it, and a ladder descending from it on the other side at the rear.
Also the second storey part in the same picture has to be finished and added to it.
After that, there is still plenty of weathering and plant growth to add.
I am hoping that they should create a maze-like, crowded section of the board, with plenty of walkways for that added slum like appearance.

Will I ever finish this project if I keep complicating it this way?

How about a roof garden, even in the slums them halfers like to garden! If you are building mound houses with houses on top I would also recommend a sink hole or two as if the weight of the buildings on top have partially collapsed those below.

Soo many ideas if you would like more, shine the ninja symbol I gave you into the sky.

Thanks for the compliment Hubbynz!
You are new to the Forum, so you may want to alter that opinion when you see some of the others threads on here that will blow your mind!

Thanks, Doug, but credit where it is due. The Farm has got to be the best pre-painted piece of scenery that I have seen, and good value too!
No problem with the pictures, steal away...
PM me with an email address and I will send them to you. There will no doubt be more when we get some games played, as a whole and individual building when you use the seperate parts in town.
Feel free to use whatever takes your fancy.

I have already drawn a basic plan for the Halfling Quarter, with plenty of little 'Fling quirks, but am always open to new ideas!
I like the 'sink hole' idea, hadn't thought of that one.
Consider it Ninja'd!

The Shrine of St Agnes (of the Sacred rudey bits!) Looks awesome, mate! Fantastic work again, Mr MAson. I look forward to being soundly thrashed in and around it sometime soon. Hmmm, thrashed in the shrine - sounds, well, y'know...

Really like this piece. Slums look good, too. Do you want any more of those scale buildings?

The Shrine of St Agnes (of the Sacred rudey bits!)

You mean; Saint Agnes of the Blessed Nipple, dont you?

I look forward to being soundly thrashed in and around it sometime soon.

OK, mate, but dont you normally have to pay for that sort of thing?  ::)

Painful?

I think most gaming experiences are for him..... lol
(Sorry, Bert, couldnt resist!)

Got a bit more done on the first Slum section done yesterday.

Mainly tidying up from the first painting session and weathering of the walls to make them more fitting for the Slums.

Starting with a couple of general views of the piece. The colours are still coming up a bit 'technicolour' for my liking. It is a little dingier in reality. The closer shots give a better idea of the real colours.

A few closer in shots.

You can see that the roof and chimney need a bit more work along with the barrels outside the back door.
The middle building looks a bit monochrome at the moment, but when the vines and other weeds are added it should all tie together better.
You may notice that the basis of the walkway has been added. It could not be put in place until this stage, as I would have had trouble painting the front of the central house.
Stairs and other elements to be added, along with a few more items added to the interior of the ruined areas.

Hoping to get a bit more done over the weekend.

Until then, any suggestions for improvements would be appreciated. Even if I do not use the ideas in this piece there are three more to be made, including the Halfling Quarter, so I will be taking notice of anything suggested.
