Cool! I've been looking forward to another one of your bat reps!

Thanks, aggro84!
I am afraid it wont be a full battle report, as the pictures were taken rather sporadically as we played.

The table was set up in such a way as to reflect a battle that took place outside of town by the river, with a farmyard on one side of the table and a few buildings alongside the docks.
The game was a Wyrdstone Hunt, with two shards of Wyrdstones placed fairly centrally on the table.
The first was placed on the stairs leading up to the second floor of one of the farm buildings, whilst the second was placed on the upper floor of the Inn.

Here are a few pictures of the first moves of the game, showing the two sides converging on the shard in the Inn.

The Beastmen moved through the ruined buildings. Although this slowed them down somewhat, it helped to avoid the rain of arrows that the Elves were waiting to unleash!

Whilst the Beasts moved through the ruins, the Elves advanced, trying to draw a bead on the foul creatures of Chaos, whilst trying to keep their distance.

A few braver souls entered the buildings, realising that the slavering Beasts would reach the Wyrdstone unopposed unless someone ventured closer. Not too close, mind you. They were not that brave!

Apologies for the blurry pics.
The Lockswin took them on his phone as my other half's camera had been lent out.
Not an easy task, trying to keep still and tapping the screen at the same time.
Who designs these things?
Not a very clever idea, is it?

More?
Who do you think you are, Oliver Twist?
 ;)

Of course there are more.
Here are the next bunch;

Whilst most of the Elves had set themselves the task of grabbing the shard in the Inn, a smaller group had set out to claim the one in the Farm.
The Beastman Chieftain had sent a group, led by the Centigor and two Hounds, to contest the right of ownership.
One of the Bestigor had moved into position, out of sight of the Elves he readied himself to climb the wall and reach the Wyrdstone shard on the stairs.

After a turn of advancing there was a face off between the two groups. Note the Bestigor getting ready to begin his climb and claim the shard on the stairs.

Unfortunately for the Centigor, it was felled by a volley of Elven arrows and would not be charging any of the Elven warriors in the Farmyard!
Seeing this, the Hounds were unleashed by one of the Bestigor, who followed them in, while the other climbed the wall and claimed the shard and continued down the stairs to aid his brethren.

Meanwhile, over by the Docks, the rest of the Beastmen continued their advance on the last shard.

More later....

There's nothing quite like a stroll through the streets of your town, watching the social interaction, to get the imagination going. GREAT STUFF!

Another rollicking game, my man. You must let me know when you're free, as I'm well up for a game with either the undead, possessed or dwarves.

I've just spent the last week and a half painting Imperial Fists, and I need to get my head out of power armour!

Looking forward to the game at Easter, although alas it will be on the streets of Mordheim rather than Krappefortt and I don't think my paltry scenery is worth photographing!  :? Got a spiffing Easter-themed scenario up my sleeve though...

The last few pics of the battle at the Farm.

Whilst the protagonists were facing off against each other in the Farmyard, the Beastmen had rushed forward into the top floor of the Inn and grabbed the second shard of Wyrdstone!

The Elves, both in the Farm and at the Inn unleashed a rain of arrows into the Beasts, felling two but failing to take them out of the game.
This included the tentacled Beastman who was waving his prize aloft, the Fool!
Meanwhil, a few of the braver Elves moved in to try and fight their way to the precious shards.

The other victim of the Elven bowfire was in the Farmyard, where a Hound had also fallen victim to the rain of steel-tipped death.
The remaining Hound had taken revenge on the Elf that had downed his brother and forced him to his knees. Meanwhile, the Bestigor had charged another Elf.
About to savage the Elf beneath his jaws, the Hound came under attack from the remainig member of the Elven contingent, trying to save his friend from the slavering beast.

Realising that it was imperative that the Elves that had been sneaking their way along the Dockside were to be stopped if they were to keep possession of the shards, the Beastman Chieftain gave a mighty roar and charged into the fray!

The Beastmen had finally gotten their claws into the Elves in close quarter combat, where those bloody bows would be of no use.
The slaughter could now begin!

Unfortunately they must have set off with the rubber swords again, as all of their attacks came to nothing!

With five of the band charging into combat, and a crazed Shaman slashing his wrists and attempting to cast Black Blood, you would have expected a little pain to be dished out to the Elves.

But, no!
It was not to be.

The Elves just would not lay down to die, and in fact, at one point, there were three of the Beasts Out of Action, and a further four more writhing around on the floor, doing a poor imitation of breakdancing whilst trying to avoid being stabbed.

Unbelievable!

Three down and four in real trouble, the Beastman Chieftain decided enough was enough and bellowed for his followers to quit the scene, absconding with their hard earned gains.

The next time the Veals of Baska take to the field will (hopefully!) be a different story, as they now have a tasty few skills gained, and with their paws on the shards at the end of the game, could afford some nice new SHARP weapons, and maybe a reinforcement or two...

Next time, Mr Lockswin, next time...

I don't know who to congratulate - you for clearly winning the scenario by dint of the fact that you'd made off with the wyrdstone (the scenario objective), or Lockswin for handing out another kicking!

I guess I should congratulate you both then, as sounds like another good wheeze in Krappefortt.

Methinks I need to reinact the War of the Beard and pay the Grey Dawn a vist with the Pits Bog Stealers! 8) I can at least offer something back in the way of missile fire with my diminuative diggers, whereas the Theatre of the Grotesque have heard about ranged attacks only as a vicious rumour which happens with other warbands - or to them where the elves are concerned (I still smart at the thought of such hideously accurate bowfire from last time). Your boys are due a stiff beating, Mr Lockswin ;). Not necessarily by me, you understand! Just sayin'...

 :P

Congrats on your unbeaten record though - that's 4 games with no losses now is it? Impressive! :)

As for Mason, lets keep it Veal and have a match up with your beastly boys versus my undead sometime. Jimjam Johnnie (AKA Herr Gurhning) has discarded his colourful night clothes and is eager to practice with his new-found frenzy. I've got a cart-sized Oxo cube all ready for your boys - oxtail soup all round!

I fanally got around to finishing the bases on the Kislevite Warband that Pil painted for me and added the four remaining members to it, including a Bear and an Ogre!

First up is the Druzhina (Captain), flanked by the Esaul (Champion) on the left and one of the Youths (Youngblood) on the right.
The Druzhina is wearing the hereditory armour of his clan, while the Esaul carries an old and battered shield that has been passed down from father to son for generations.
The Youth will be used as the rather bookish son of the Captain and wears his cherished spectacles.

Next up are the Bear Tamer and his trusty Bruin.

Next is the Warlock (that will be hired) in suitable Kislevite-style mink robes, the remaining Hero of the Warband, another Youth, carrying two swords (a gift from The Lockswin) and a veteran member of the band with a double-handed axe.

Three swordsmen, or Cossacks, who form the backbone of the group.

A spear armed warrior and two more Cossacks

The missile armed Hunters and Trappers

The lone Streltsi with his Handgun (halberd to be added!) and the other Hired Sword, the Ogre

And finally, the group shot.

Pil did a great job on those that he did, and the other four members have blended in well.
The Bear, Ogre and Streltsi along with the two-sword-armed guy painted by The Lockswin (only the second figure he had painted after a break of about six years, I might add!) have really fitted themselves in after the bases were done. You cannot really tell that they were painted by different people. (I hope!)

Getting these finished off has really helped me get the motivation I needed (the proverbial kick-up-the-arse!) to finally get the bases done on the Beastmen. That and seeing the pics from the last battle, where the unfinished bases are so obvious, that is!  ::)

Hoping to get the Beastmen done this week...

They look fantastic Mason, of course I have the utmost confidence in your basing skills (and painting skills too of course) as you make such wonderful terrain pieces as well. I'm looking forward to seeing the same treatment on the beastmen. The other four figures blended in very well indeed and are great additions :-*
Let me hear the battle cry
Calling on the wind
Let me see the banners fly
Before the storm begins
