Well well, they turned out beautifully Paul.
I now feel quite bad that they sat unloved in a box in my garage for 10 years...  ;)

Well done. Lovely job on them  :)

Could have sworn I saw something very similar on another thread elsewhere on the forum. ;)

It was great there and looks just as good here :D

Yes indeed! Krappefortt has most definitely a classier sort of ruins.

 lol
Cheers, mate.

What white whites they keep in Krappefortt! Those sacks look awesome. Is the main color white or off-white?

 lol
Thanks, Jevenkah!
They are probably not quite as white as that picture makes them.
The lighting may well be making them seem much brighter as the final highlight was Ivory, but there are a couple of layers from Yellow Ochre before it gets to that point.

Cheers, Richard.
I, for one, am glad you got shot of them at last.
 :D

The should prove very useful in plenty of genres, now that the mattresses have been hidden.
 ;)

You did indeed, but these will be seeing service all over the gaff, as they are so versatile.

I recently purchased the rights for this lovely piece of Paved Road from the Lazy Forger.

I have had some cast up and will be selling them soon.

These examples are Jacks own pictures as I have not painted any yet....

It is a really well detailed piece.

I had been asked a few questions about them regarding cutting it, using them side-by-side etc.

The best way is probably to just do something with them rather than assume, so here we are.
I thought it made sense to log the experimenting process here as these pieces that I am making will probably see more use in Krappefortt rather than anywhere else.

Here are a couple of the resin castings, uncleaned and selected at random, showing how they may look forming a Town Square or suchlike...

I decided that a couple of examples will be the best bet, one intact and one partially ruined...

...the one on the left is a casting that has been cleaned up and stuck to a piece of MDF and awaits the next stage of work.

The one on the right has been carefully snapped apart, scoring with a blade first and then used pliers to remove sections and individual stones.
Again, the pieces have been stuck to another piece of MDF and sand glued in the places where the removed slabs would have been.

The smaller piece at the top is a piece that was removed from the piece that was cut apart and has been put to one side for future use.

Next: To paint the thing.

I will start that tomorrow....

Cooooool! i'm glad you're using my sculpt here! :) And the process is promising!

One suggestion: IF you have access to the casting, you might want to pour a very little resin in the mold in order to have a very think panel for your personal use. Besides, you can easily split the single stones this way, and that's very pratical for detailing!!!

cheers
Jack

Awesome, any interest in doing slightly thicker tiles with 1"x1" squares so us Dwarven Forge folks can buy them by the boat load...?  lol

It is a great bit of sculpting, Jack, very detailed.

Hopefully as I progress with it the detail shall become more apparent.

I wont be using any thinner parts at the moment as I want to show what can be done with the current pieces....and they really do separate easily enough once scored and utilising pliers, carefully.
 ;)

Maybe.... ;)

they look very useful

Thanks, Rob.
They should be just that.

Anyway, a quick piccie showing yesterdays progress.....

Not much, just a little bit of basewood edging with the gaps filled with green stuff.

The green at the ends of the road are to insinuate different stones on the MDF.
Hopefully this will be more obvious once they are painted....

Oh, and I slapped some paint on the resin pieces to show the detail a little better.

And a swift piccie of something else that will work well with them, I hope.

More later, with a bit of luck.....

Oooh. That broken up cobbled surface is rather good  :-*

It works for me.
Really easy to do, too.
 ;)

Right, a small update....

The two areas have had a light dusting of scenic materials on the areas that will be 'grassed.
Thin flock powder on the 'intact' version and heavier and more coarse sand on the 'ruined.
Then given a solid coat of Burnt Umber when the glue has dried to form a basecoat...

I should get the drybrushing finished soon and then it will start to come together.

The bulk of the painting is finished....

....highlighted up from Burnt Umber to Yellow Ochre to White.

A few thin washes to follow and then on to the scenic crap.

Looking good.

Cheers, von Lucky, that did make me laugh.

Just need to take some piccies later.

'Paved Roads' Finished!.... The ruins of Krappefortt (MORDHEIM) 17/05

Finished and piccies taken....

The intact section...

Built like this it is very easy to store, but with a couple of small additions it looks much better...

And the ruined section....

And with a few figures on it....

They should both make nice pieces to place in the middle of a Town Square or similar.
They should also work well in pretty much any setting.
