Indian Mutiny basing

So, most of my stuff is Spring static grass.  India I see is more browny/dusty.  So what static grass would conjure up that appearance?

You can get 'burnt grass' static grass from different sources like Woodland Scenics. I'd check out Antenociti's Workshop as he has a whole static grass department, with blends for every occasion and geography

I looked at Burnt Grass on his comparison, I thought it looked dark. in comparison to others.

Mutineer have different coloured grasses and also tufts. For mine I mixed a very dark green but applied it sparsely and then added burnt tufts and the odd lighter green tuft for variety, as I hope the picture shows.

Not necessarily...it depends what time of year and after Monsson or before. You could use green grass. I like Silflour Autumn/Winter or whatever it's called...it's kind of tanish colour, but it disappears if you use a dusty tan/sandy base colour. Indian soil tends toward the pale pinkish dust anyway.

Also depends where you are.






All India. Many of their grasses are also hardier esp. with the sun, so here a few days sun starts to bleach lawns there not neccessarily.

I may experiment with a mixture of dark brownish sand, small grit and static grass...........

i think that you should add to the mixture some "river" sand, more thin than the usual sand: the indian ground is mostly dusty, so a smoother surface should work good!

Maybe try to add some plaster (only the powder, no water) to the sand, the final effect should be more realistic!
