Sicilian and 1839 pattern caps?

Perry has a new ACW pack: ACW61 "Early Confederate infantry in 'Sicilian caps' and 1839 pattern caps advancing". Since there is no picture and getting email replies from the Perry´s is hard, would anyone know how such caps look like? Grateful for any comment!

These caps were popular in the early part of the war (mostly 61'). The 1839 caps Came in many styles like Mexican War style (dark blue), civilian tarred mechanic's version, cloth types, etc. The Sicillian Caps were even more short lived; they were basically a bag like fez with a tassle on the end and worn on the head or over a kepi. I've included some of the pics I have, and hopefully they help. Both cap types would have been very common at Manassas.

Many thanks for your extensive answer. I am actually looking for suitable figures for the Italian War of Independence and those sicilian caps looks as promising as they sounds!

No worries. Yes that was the original inspiration for them; not sure how the other equipment would work for Italians (?).

Yeah good idea. Cracking if Perry's would do 28mm Mexican War or Italian Wars - Garabaldi et al.
